I used to have a Sony MD player with an amp that had been seriously derated to comply with Euro volume regs. It pissed me off no end, barely loud enough at full volume.

The older model I used before that, on the other hand, could make your ears bleed if you turned it up enough.

OMG I have that too. I don't use it anymore, it doesn't give me the rush that the CD player does. It isn't the amp though BKS, it is the MD itself, I know this because my CD player didn't have the problem with the same amps. Although it could be both in the EU.
