Hello to everyone at the .org!!!!
My name is Joe, I'm 23 (24 in three weeks) and have been into the total war franchise for just under 3 years. My first total war was MTW, then I played the VI expansion, wasted all last spring with massive campaigns on RTW, and bought and installed BI last night. Enjoying the new patches, and the game like it's a new experience all over again :)
Little detail on my history...I have been an on and off TW gamer since I first bought MTW a few years back as I stated. Work, other games etc all bring me back and forth periodically. Back in the summer I was relatively active on the game but was very upset by a lot of news...some of which being: a) no new patches would be available, b) sega had just taken over the franchise, c) there was no new total war announced, d) it looked like this franchise was going the "cotton candy" route.
Finding these things out initially almost brought tears to my gaming eyes heh. I have always thought that this franchise had the highest longterm potential of any strategy game ever made...I really wanted to see it blossom into the post 2005 era and was afraid that wasn't going to happen, or that the community itself would shrink so much, that it wouldn't even really matter.
Let's say this: I'm back, and I'm back for good. I still have found no other game that occupies my mind constantly even during a THREE MONTH break at times. Daily, I would culminate strategies and devise plans in my mind. During long summer days at work this past summer I remember replaying battles from last march in my head heh. Sick, I know...but I also know that others here can relate :)
I want to say this also: I am SO happy, proud, and relieved to find out that this franchise not only IS going to be racing forward to the next gen but that it looks to be going in the same direction that most of us hoped and prayed that it would, especially when the possibility of such looked awefully bleak.
MTW2 being announced is the best news in gaming that I have heard in years...if not ever. The mold is set to create what is probably going to wind up being, in the next couple years, what is regarded as the best strategy game ever made. I plan on spending a LOT of time around here (and another total war community...maybe twcenter.net or something) and on the game, with RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6 over the next several months....
Looks like we got about what...10-14 months before MTW2 comes out? Gives me plenty of time to once again envelope myself in the TW world and get my amazing strategy skills back, in preparation for the gigantic storm of war headed our way next winter: MTW2 baby!!!
Just wanted to say hello, and give a little background about myself...I thank all of you for having me as a guest and I look forward to enjoying this community fully for a very long time :)
