Humans are equipped with special equipment designed for procreation (I shan't go into the details...). The Chinese have used this so much so that they have lots of people. The Russian Federation lost many in wars, and Gulags, and various other things.

Ermm...China was always the country that had the highest population (in the last 50-100 years or so). The Soviet Union lost much of its territory and population when it collapsed...

You're damn right. They should take over China as the world's highest population within the next 5-10 years. Thanks to the one child per family policy, China's population growth has slowed down, and by the end of the century should have halved to 500 million. Unfortunately, the hundreds of millions of peasants ignore this law, and have many children regardless.
