I don't know what right wingers have to do with it. Several days ago I got a friend at a silk screening shop printing some up for me and my pals. T-shirts that piss people off are funny, and when theres an underlying political fiasco in which the people throwing a fit are being babies and reinforcing their own stereotypes, then it makes it all the better.
As a political cartoon it was fine. As a t-shirt designed simply to annoy Muslims it is not.

The best T-shirt I ever had as a teen was my Adolf Hitler Tour T-shirt. It had all these places that he annexed like it was the places he held concerts at and for London it said "cancelled" as well as Stalingrad. It was a million laughs. I wouldn't buy this T-shirt because its one thing to make fun of Hitler but I find this shirt offensive. But to each his own.

I've never met anyone worth being friends with that gets sincerely distraught over a t-shirt. I wouldn't wear a shirt that was vulgar, but only because it's classless, not because I'd be worried that someone would take a t-shirt image seriously. It's the most ridiculous when someone who supposedly has faith in a higher being gets upset over a t-shirt or cartoon. Way to vomit all over the redeeming qualities your beliefs hold.

I'm mainly irked by the timing and the gesture it makes the whole thing, and the pompous arrogance and undercurrent of profiteering doesn't exactly help.

There wouldn't be any market in offending certain groups if certain groups weren't idiotically offended. You have the offended to thank that these crass shirts will make anyone a dollar.

Gawain: CONGRATS!!!!!!
As per the topic. I am torn. Yes I see the blatant capitalizing on offensive subjects. But I also see the point in giving the finger to anyone who denies us our right to free speech. Which reason did the company choose? Probably the first. But who cares.
You can put just about anything in a newspaper or on a tshirt in the world and western civilization will not burn cars, riot, and set buildings ablaze. Pictures of Jesus in the Tijuana Donkey Show or Moses coming down brokeback mountain with two schlong tablets. Nazi signs and whatever else.
EDIT: Just had a thought as I was re-reading this. Muhammed is just the Muslim Prophet. Jesus is the Christian God on earth. But I could have a tshirt with Jesus being buttslammed and nobody would riot. So what gives? What if Mohammy was the Muslim God? Would we have a tsunami of boomskis self igniting at every civilized street corner? I don't get it. Why the double standard?
Anything less that a full defense of our freedom of speech is appeasement. I'm amazed that anybody suggests we coddle the fundamentalists in any way. If we're craven now, how will we behave once they have nukes?
Why on earth should we allow Iran to tell us what we can print? The hypocrisy of the mullahs is breathtaking.

I suppose I should somehow sympathise with them. But somehow I don't feel like it today. Maybe tomorrow.
Wearing the tshirts would be a good way of getting knifed I feel.
Gawain's ones are pretty good though. Especially the first and last ones.

OMG those are awesome !! Tshirts that pisses people off are so damn great anyway. I used to have a t-shirt with the good old pic of the Che on the front, and a pic of Staline on the back, just to make fun of the cliché hippie teenagers.

I was going to post how I've seen many "offensive" T-shirts in London for many years. I think that Gwain got the best of them though...
No, I'd not wear them (although for my sins I thought that they were funny in a rather purile way).
Muslims need to realise that this is the society that we live in and get used to it, or start saving for a plane ticket. :flybye:

That's brillant ! I hate those Che T shirts (and often the people who wear them).
Wearing one of those Mohammed T shirts where I live would result in me getting my arse kicked unfortunately. But then again, it IS supposed to be insulting, and that can happen when you insult people. :juggle2:

Well idiots are never left without company...
...I fully support any form of satire, religious even more. But at the moment, such a t-shirt is not about satire, its about retaliating with stupidity against stupidity.
...I believe that the laws that safeguard free speach are above any radical cleric so I believe that the cartoon should be published. However, what good will come from people wearing such a t-shirt? Satire is one thing, 'in your face' ridicule is another.

A few years ago, the day the Iraq war started, I went to university wearing a 'Proud to be American' - shirt, a bit similar to this but with a Statue of Liberty image on it as well:
https://img485.imageshack.us/img485/2271/a10921blg8fe.jpg
It was fantastic, people stopped and stared in aghast, spitting out their coffee and all. What a riot. :laugh4:
In that setting, at that time, it was just about the most provocative shirt imaginable.
I didn't get me beaten up or killed though...

Same here. There was an issue in my university because one of my teachers called Muhammad a 'so-called prophet' (as he would have called Jesus a so called prophet), so I guess wearing this tshirt would lead me to big troubles.

the cartoon was published to show the ignorance of the terrorists, how they idolized a mohammed who was a terrorist like them, so unlike the peacful mohammed of the Quran. putting it on a t-shirt is just an attempt to humiliate and slanderize ALL muslims. i would call this a disgrace and say that muslims arent like that but after the recent affairs and riots...well lets just say that it holds a grain of truth.
but imagine if someone in the muslim world during the dark ages came up with with that t-shirt Gawain put up (jesus did it for the chicks) i could really see all of medieval chrisendom attacking all of Islam in the greatest crusade ever...over a cartoon...on a t-shirt...god people are dumb.
PS my favorite t-shirt says "every day i think humanity can't get any stupider, every day i'm proved horribly wrong" and it is disturbingly true.

Wearing the tshirts would be a good way of getting knifed I feel.
Only in Finsbury Park, or this side of the Ocean :help:. I cannot think of any place in America where people would think about knifing somebody over any kind of T-shirt, maybe a heated argument w/ some nutter but that's about it.
I still cannot understand why people would ever consider acting violently because someone was wearing some offensive message...

You guys need to visit T-shirt hell.com
Would I wear this shirt on the university campus where I would likely run into many muslims? Well, no, not because I don't want to offend anyone but because universitys CAN and DO limit free speech and I would get in trouble.
Would I wear this shirt to a counter protest? Absolutley. To a bar? Absolutely (what? a muslim at a bar? no way!) To go grocery shopping? Absolutley. It will go nice with my other shirts that are "offensive" to hippies, christians, single moms, pet owners, eating disoreders, etc
So please, get offended, and assualt me. Please, please assault me.
Its the single mums that'll hand you your balls on a plate my friend.
I still cannot understand why people would ever consider acting violently because someone was wearing some offensive message...
You could try that.
"[Insert group here] are violent bastards who would knife you over a tshirt!"
High risk strategy. Especially with the single mothers...
My fave T-shirt is my 'Messiah' one
It has Charles Manson's face with 'hes not the messiah hes a very naughty boy' written underneath it :laugh4:
