Apparently in the latest preview of MTW2 in PC Gamer it also mentions a "mini-expansion" for RTW based on the conquests of Alexander. Seems like it's going to be online-distribution too. Can anyone confirm this?

You perhaps were reading the February edition? The latest one is March, which contains the article.

Not that I've seen it lol.

Boy oh boy....Sega/CA sure have picked up the ball and ran with it since this past spring/summer when the merger (or "buyout" heh) was announced. Several patches, and expansion pack, and word of an Alexander expansion for RTW and MTW2?!

Does not get any better for a TW fan...we may very well be only NOW entering the height of this franchise's existence, which is amazing if you think about it.

I would assume that means March for the UK and Europe correct?

I'm in the Eastern U.S. I wouldn't imagine it would be here before mid summer...

just speculation of course though

Scans courtesy of Mooselord over at Totalwar.com. Hope this doesn't need to get taken down:

Looks good I must say, although I hope there are at least 7 factions or so and a few new unit models, maybe animations even.

Well he's not charging people for seeing the screens, so legally it's more like he bought the magazine and wanted to show his friends the cool news!:2thumbsup:

no, I was reading the March one.. is it in the American PC Gamer, or the PC Gamer in England, because I read the March issue of the PC Gamer in America..

Those skins look much better than BI's so looking good I think it will be nice to conquer asia without fighting other Hellenistic Armies.

I wonder if were seeing a new strategy from SEGA/CA at this point? If soo I think they are pretty shrude to release dl:able campaigns to keep interests and sales up between releases. Anyway, if this is true a long yearned dream of mine has come true. Taking charge of Alexanders army and march on the east... droooool!

I also find the suggestion that CA may consider more "episodic content" if this "experiment" works out most intriguing.

"Mini-expansion"? What does it mean? And why hadn't we known nothing about it before saturday? And will it be published in few weeks? That's a bit strange. Oh, I'm reading right now that it can be soon dowloaded. Another strange factor. :) Well we will see...

The first option sounds so much better. If it's "mini" expansion, I guess they could release it for free.

Wow - that's exactly the scenario I was originally hoping for in an expansion :jumping:

Thanks CA/SEGA

Good news, indeed.

However, I apologize, but because some magazines don't mind copying their pages, but some do, we must have a policy of prohibiting the display of scanned magazine pages, unless written permission is obtained from the magazine publisher.

In the latest newsletter it says they will have a special accouncement later this week.

PseRamesses

Just got a newsletter from them where they tease me to have a look at their announcement this week and proudly boost "don´t forget, you heard it here first" - NOT! Don´t you just hate it when a newsletter isn´t a newsletter?!

Yeah sorry Kukri mate, I thought that might be the case. Hope there's no harm done.

No harm at all, my friend; your intentions (to keep us informed) were impeccable.

Some publications actually encourage web-distribution, thinking it boosts their hard-copy sales. But others see it as copyright infrigement, and generate cease-and-desist orders like they were speeding tickets in rural Georgia. :)

haven't had a chance to look at PC Gamer and I sincerly hope this is upheld by SEGA and CA. Although my (and others) caution come from the fact that there has been no announcment from CA on the main TW website yet. I know they've mentioned "something big" but I guess until we hear it from them, we'll all be worried its a scam.

Nah imo it's kosha, I just checked my inbox for the n ewsletter. The unnamed thing it mentioned cant really be anything but this. Also PC Gamer Magazine isn't some random unknown that publishes anything.

What will be its title exactly? Alexander Total War or RTW: Macedon Invasion or what?

Antagonist
02-14-2006, 18:44
The magazine article just calls it Rome Total War: Alexander, but it's possible that's an unofficial title and may change.
