Before anyone on the dev team screams and tears at their hair- I'm not asking that this kind of thing be included in an upcoming patch. I don't know anything about hardcoding, but I got to thinking that
1. Forts can be built anywhere (within limits) and will appear on the battlemap
2. City walls are generic and change as the city grows- i.e. there is a subroutine or something that tells the battlemap to include a certain kind of wall depending on what has happened on the campaign map.
3. A battlefield palisade would be basically a one-sided city wall. The same animations and stuff could be used- even Hadrian's Wall would just be a stone city wall with towers running from one side of the battlemap to the other. The program can already handle siegetowers, ladders and saps- so
Why Not? It would be way cool if we could build the Roman Limes, for example. I'm not asking for caltrops, chevaux-de-frise or slit trenches with barbed wire :laugh4: but even if it was only at certain predefined locations I think it would be cool to build walls. I bet it's not possible, just wondering why.
