Hey guys...was hoping someone could answer a quick question for me...
I have RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6 installed on my computer. I want to download RTR 6.2 (the newest one) and it says that I must install that onto a patched 1.2 version of RTW.
This is my question...If i go and repatch version 1.5 to 1.2 so that I can download RTR 6.2, will that effect my 1.6 install onto BI?
Thanks

nevermind...
have since figured the whole thing out...
as for anyone else who might be curious in the near future: You cannot install RTR 6.2 or 6.0 gold unless you have a CLEAN version of RTW1.2 on your computer, no BI. If you have patched BI or RTW beyond a clean slate 1.2, you would need to delete ALL rtw files from you computer (completely uninstall) and then reinstall RTW, patch it to 1.2, forget about BI and go install RTR version you want.
For me, it's kinda too late, I'm 50 years into my Saxon Campaign :inquisitive:
certainly not going to just uninstall heh

RTR is well worth installing. But of course, you should finish your campaign, I never liked leaving campaigns unfinished either.
Also, there's 6.3 version of RTR, so you should install it also. I can't yet, it makes old save games unusable and I'm in the middle of the campaign also. But the word is it fixes a number of things.

I actually had a problem with that Saxon campaign, i mean it was going great (kept getting better and better, I like BI and will play several campaigns on it before MTW2) ..the problem was that I installed both 1.6 and 1.5 patches...turned out that can cause CTD at times. Did it once out of nowhere and that was it, i uninstalled and will reinstall, no bigge.
This is the thing: I wanna download RTR 6.0 gold (the newest apparently) but apparently it only works with the 1.2 patch of RTW :wall:
I don't want to start playing it only to have the same problems we had 8 months ago with the game....
can anyone clarify if there's a problem with the load/save bug on rtr 6.0 gold?

sorry, won't let me edit...
basically what i want to know is, what's better, rtw1.5 or rtr6.0 gold? because I don't want to deal with load/save/siege issues if I don't have to ya know?
Yes, there's still the save/reload bug in RTR 6.0 gold - as it is built on RTW 1.2. To be honest, that bug never bothered me much - the strategic AI is so feeble anyway, I did not notice it.
RTR 6.0 is far better than RTW 1.5 IMO. I love the more authentic unit line ups and the slower, longer lasting battles. However, RTR 7.0 will be built on BI, so if you have that expansion you could wait.
Personally, I have three versions of RTW on my hard disk - RTR, BI and EB.

Yeah, I've looked into RTR 7.0...now THAT is what I'll play when it comes out heh :2thumbsup:
I too prefer RTR's battles...and I've noticed that the siege bug doesn't really impact RTR as much as it does RTW. I'll just keep RTR minimized for the next 2 weeks heh.
I do have the expansion already too, and, although not amazing, I think it's going to give me quite a bit of fun for quite a bit of time...(at least till mtw2, although nothing is going to get much play time but that once it hits shelves).
As for BI, the RTR team creating 7.0 on it is going to help it's sales tremendously...as many people only bought BI for 7.0 (not me, would've bought it regardless).

looks like that 7.0 using BI 1.6 can't come soon enough. I had a LOT of problems with RTR 6.0 gold and I'll detail them here...took one night of playing to uninstall, and reinstall vanilla 1.5/1.6.
1) ummm...virtually nothing happens in rtr 6.0 gold. Nothing. I removed fog of war (i never play with it on, but I had to see what the problem was) and watched not ONE army, diplomat, spy, assassin, general, anything move for over 10 turns. The AI did NOTHING.
2) 17 turns into the game, I was the only one who attacked anyone, or anything...rebels included. Again, nobody did ANYTHING. Then all of a sudden, the greeks declared war on me, but they a) hadn't attacked anything of mine including navy b) hadn't moved an army onto my land c) hadn't even sent a spy or assassin anywhere near me.
3) for 6 turns after greece declared war on me they didn't move or do anything. Even when I attacked their cities, they didn't even try to defend them. DURING THE SIEGE BATTLE, the enemy army just "stood" around inside the walls...they didn't fire an arrow, move one foot, or even try to stop me as I ran to the "town center". I will also add that i was unable to attack them...I could give the command, but my troops would run up to them, and then both armies would just stand there, looking at eachother.
4) The starting province/map/power balance has NOTHING to do with "realism"...it's just some fantasy conjured up by someone who made a mistake.
5) didn't think the battles were on the level of quality as other RTR versions.
so that's that...I have RTW/BI 1.6 installed now and will not put on another mod till they start using 1.7. I simply cannot deal with garbage like that.
What faction and difficulty level were you playing? I'm playing Rome on VH/M and it's like Macaulay's definition of history ... just one damn thing after another.
You start the game at war with the Greeks, then the Carthaginians declared war and shortly after the Gauls. Once I had a border with them, the Thracians came calling, with the Germans and Illyrians next up. It's only a matter of time before my allies the Iberians turn traitor.
I suspect the VH campaign makes a lot of difference - it gives the AI multiple stacks. I also suspect that the AI is very opportunistic - it will declare war if a neighbouring province is very weakly defended.
I agree that the AI is feeble in actually conducting an offensive war once it has declared one, but I don't mind as being Rome I kinda see that sort of activity as my perogative anyway. ~;)

Umm, that's really bad...6.2 is nothing like that. Everything works out like it should, even on M/M level. I've got two wars on my hands, and in one i was suddenly attacked with large armies, enemy is sending many diplomats and the AI in battles is functioning regularly. It's rather stupid, but he gives it a try.
So, I'm rather confused. Maybe there was some mistake during the instalation?

I'm not understanding it either, although look around...there's many other posts that describe that same problem...and no, it was installed correctly, everything worked fine except the strategy itself.
Doesn't even really matter...ANY mod that is still using 1.2 as it's base, is completely useless to me. I simply cannot deal with the problems of 1.2, combined with THESE problems in Rome: Total Peace 6.0.
I have another issue though:
Where do I find the downloads for the "unlock all factions" mods for the 1.5 RTW and the 1.6 BI?
I downloaded the generic unlock alls for both, but it seems that unless that mod was specifically designed for the version that you're using, it causes CTD's (this ruined my Saxon campaign, that and the fact that I installed 1.5 and 1.6, instead of just 1.6...that was my fault entirely).
Any info on mods that work with 1.5 RTW and 1.6 BI that unlock all the factions (again, why CA locked ANY of them is just way beyond me, and amazingly annoying) would be greatly appreciated....
p.s. I really don't want my frustration with 6.0 gold to be interpreted as directed at this community...it's not at all. Thus far, this community has been a pleasure to be a part of.
Ive had no problems with rtr so far, every campaign i play seems to be an exercise in survival, it doesnt matter which faction i play as either, everyone seems to wanna fight me, its great :) I played a campaign as the Gauls on Hard difficulty and didnt actually start making a profit untill about 25 years into the game.
