enjoyed the luge too, very tense.
Downhill slalom was good too, nice to see an outsider win...the women's ice hockey was a bit one-sided, with Canada beating someone 16-0...

The Top Gear version was funnier, especially the suicide mini.

being ironic:inquisitive: ?

Oh well the Usa or Canada will be first with icehockey but i wonder who'll become third. Sweden, Finland,...?
At least it's a bit less clear with the women but then again they don't play half as good as the men.

Curling is interesting actually.(!)
Hope we get more gold medals, one is not nearly enough for a country with only 4 million people like Norway!

I was surprised to see France win gold in Downhill Skiing... I thought that Austria would've taken it again.

Congratz France!.

I don't like any of the sports. Except that guy who went of the ski jump, did a double back flip and crashed. That was fun.

Just saw the pairs figure skating tonight. I really liked the Chinese couple that took 4th place. Their performance may not have been quite as technically challenging as some of the others, but I thought from an aesthetic viewpoint it was by far the most beautiful. I loved the choreography and the timing. The silver medalists get major points for heart and determination, though. Quite an impressive showing for China overall, with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.

Australia just got its 3rd gold medal in the history of the Winter Olympics... some might argue that we stole the gold medal from the Canadians :laugh4:

The Canadian-born 21-year-old, already a multi-millionaire internet entrepreneur, took an impressive win to join Alisa Camplin, the defending women's aerial champion, and 2002 speed skating champion Steven Bradbury as Australia's only winter Games gold medallists.

Begg-Smith moved to Australia as a 15 year old with his older brother after deciding they could no longer participate in the Canadian moguls skiing program because it clashed with their business interests

Was sick and nothing else was on TV, it's boring like hell. I couldn't help laughing at the langlaufers, it looks like skiers being born like Bambi.

no fun at all.

Did anyone see the womens snowboard race?

The American was way ahead, started showing off in a jump, came down badly because of her stunt, lost the lead and got silver to the Swiss's Gold... :wall: :laugh4:

Speaking of Switzerland, they've beaten the Canadians and the Czechs in hockey while being out-shot by a ridiculous margin. Looks like they'll go as far as their goalie can take them. Slovakia has beaten the US in hockey while having a national population lower than that of New York City. Things are getting interesting.

Yep, losing the to the Swiss in hockey was quite a shock.

It's no excuse, but our team coach, Gretzky is under suspicion of ties to gambling and organized crime, and one of our players, Todd Bertuzzi, that blistering idiot, is being sued for millions by the guy he sucker-punched and nearly paralyzed (he broke the guy's neck) in an NHL game. Perhaps our team is... distracted.

But if the Swiss won then good for them! :switzerland:

Not happy with Canada at the moment Beirut!

Parochial complaint, but someone should shoot whoever is responsible for the BBC's coverage. I do NOT want to see curling, still less Sue Barker boring on in the studio, I want to see ICE HOCKEY (which lets face it together with the mens downhill and grand slalom is all that is worth watching in the winter olympics). But the BBC is showing no ice hockey at all. Thank god my local has got Eurosport.

(That USA snowboarder falling over was priceless though.)

BTW what is it with Korea and speed skating?

Well since I'm Dutch I'm watching the Ice skating to, kind of like a national sport here in Holland.

And yes that US border that fell trying to show off was indeed priceless, really did get a good laugh out of that.

AUSTRALIA'S newest winter Olympic gold medallist Dale Begg-Smith has been immortalised on a postage stamp.

Stamps of the champion moguls skier will go on sale today, Australia Post has announced.

Well it is the third gold medal for Australia... in the history of the winter games... we really don't have that much snow as a proportion of our country...

Damn, I hoped the Russians would snap it...but they got plenty of other medals so it's okay...

too bad when you have to cheer fo another nation since yours is too weak...our main achievement in this Winter Olympics is that two of our contestants actually finished the competition without falling or being disqualified...

PS. Dutch guy, see you in WC 2006:)
