View Full Version : what to do with religion when conquering?
Untill now I played as a roman empire and basically made everyone christian when I sacked a city...
Now I am playing the sassanids and I wonder if I should convert every city to their religion. Perhaps I should make the sassanids christian?
What do you guys do?

Turn every settlement I conquer to Sass' religion. (That's what I do). Basicly, because they give some very nice law bonuses, and due to how big your provinces are, you need law to secure them.
As a Sassanid it pays after you converted any city into their religion. Your characters will get lots of religious traits which helps to limit the time until converted.

Are you kidding?:inquisitive:
No, just convert (by force if necessary) to zoroastrianism. The law bonuses are absolutely essential.
You cannot make the Sassanids christian. Zoroastrianism is their only choice, just like the Saxons can only be pagans. So just convert those christian infidels!
go one better- convert them before you conquer. just stick as many religious characters or agents into the province before you try and conquer them, perhaps you could leave them a few turns during the seige so that when you have taken the city it is already filled with willing converts. it makes sense to start the conversion as soon as you can. just beware of doing it to romans as you migh find that lightly guarded city revolts to the rebel faction and suddenly gains a massive garrison!
