View Full Version : What did I screw up?

Hi, everyone.

Recently I downloaded a skinpack for R:TW that caused enough CTDs where I decided to uninstall and reload R:TW on my pc.

Since I reinstalled, all I've added to the game is Player1's bugfixer and the 'all factions playable' mod.

For some reason, I can play the prologue, load a saved campaign, fight custom battles, but every time I try to start a new Imperial Campaign it just sends me back to the previous menu.

I'm guessing since everything works except for starting a new IC, it must be something with descr_strat or one of the files in the imperial_campaign folder, but I can't seem to figure out which. I'm pretty novice with modding things, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if I just missed something incredibly obvious.

Can anyone offer me some suggestions for things I should be looking at first?

Also, not sure if it matters, but when I uninstalled R:TW, I left BI as it was. Oh and yes, I did patch the game to 1.3, then to 1.5 before I added the playable factions file and the bug-fixer.

Since RTW and BI are so closely intertwined, I suspect not uninstalling BI may have caused some problems. You could try uninstalling both and go again.

Or, you could do a Short Campaign since it seems to be letting you do that, and when you win say you want to continue and then that will turn into an Imperial Campaign....

Tried a short campaign and had the same problem. Oh well, time for a total reinstall. Anyhow, thanks for the help.

Since its booting you back to the main menu the show_err command in the exe will tell you why you cant get the campaign started.

RomeTW.exe" -show_err

Also a good Idea is to Search Files & Folders for anything else connected with RTW and delete them as well, then re-download them again I.E Patches and Mods.
Also when I screw up (quite often):shame: I delete the Activision Folder before I re-install everything.

Were both mods, bug-fixer + all playable factions, compatible with 1.5?
It could be that you used the wrong versions of both or one of them. Perhaps you should recheck to see if you downloaded the 1.5 compatible versions.

All 3.0X versions of bug-fixer are compatible with 1.5/1.6

Personally, not starting of campaign would I contrubute to corrupted descr_start.txt file, so maybe it's old version of play all factions (just guessing).

I think this is exactly what happened, but I gotta fresh install now and everything's working fine, Bug Fixer included.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
