With so many Orgites having babies, it's time we acted like the doting parents that we are and talked baby strollers. Prams. Dwarf wheels. Mack baby rides. Whatever you like to call them. What sort of caboose do you either have or plan to stick the offspring into? And yes, you can talk car seats without going off-topic.

We opted for the original Bugaboo Frog, largely because (a) space was at a premium, and (b) it was the only stroller that could do the job from <1 month to 2 years. It's got a funky lego-like construction, so you can snap it apart and re-assemble it as the progenic creature grows. Here's a pic of it in bassinet mode:

Bugaboo doesn't make 'em no more; they've been replaced with a very confusing set of new strollers, but I like the original one just fine. Here's a shot of Maxwell about a year ago in his stroller in big-kid mode (he's since outgrown it -- and don't ask about the snake):

Questions:

If you do have a stroller/pram, what sort is it?
If you're expecting, are you looking, and what do you think?

So... what about the snake?

And what happened to the apple?

Does the snake have anything to do with Maxwell's future army of robot monkeys?:inquisitive:

Yeah I definately don't have anything to say about strollers.....

We got the Eddie Bauer lightweight job that converts to a car seat for young Jacob 3 years ago. The carseat part still operates fine.

He outgrew the stroller bit at 18 months.

In the late 80's, while stationed in southern Germany, I saw their different approach to infant transportation, like this:

Man, slap an little engine into that thing and you could go 4-wheelin'! And if you peeked inside this ark-on-wheels, you'd be lucky to see li'l Hans' eyes and nose, all else being tightly covered.

Okay, I guess I have to explain the snake. A guy had a python on the street, and I asked him if I could let Maxwell touch it. The guy was fine, but didn't want to do the handling himself. So I grabbed five feet of python and let Max have a go. The boy loved it. If you've never handled a snake, then you don't know that they feel like warm, soft leather. Very buttery to the touch, while at the same time very dry.

Anyway, Max was having so much fun that when it came time to give the python back, he screamed bloody murder for a half hour. Nevertheless, I wanted him to have a snake exeprience. They're really scary to look at, but if you know a little about them, they're peaches.

As the picture below illustrates, I am nothing if not a responsible parent.

So me and KukriKhan are the only people with prams?

No offence Lemur, but if this were posted on any other forum, I think it would probably get flamed like crazy because it's aimed at a very specific and small audiance.

My point is thank you www.totalwar.org, for being a mature forum. Keep it up guys!

Sorry for being a bit random, but I had to say that...

Back to the strollers!

P.S: I'm going to re-post this thread in other forums to see reactions to prove my hypothesis...:2thumbsup:

Alexander, I'm not sure I follow your reasoning, although I'd very much like to. This thread would get flamed because it's for a narrow group? People with kids, who like to move them about before they're fully, reliably mobile?

Please help me understand.

It just seems, that this type of thread, would get flamed in other forums. Mainly because game forums are full of immature brats, who would not care about strollers.

I find it really great that your thread hasn't been flamed. I am only 15 and this does not give me a good discussion, but I had to post at how proud I was.

Gamers may not respect strollers, but they will certainly respect a great big snake! And yes, snake handling is all part of my plan for Maxwell to conquer the world with his army of flying robot monkeys ...

Note to self: Never allow yourself to be left alone in a room with Maxwell and a snake, especially if he has a stroller!

Ah, I understand the snake now, pretty cool. I bet my mom would have screamed if my dad tried to do that with me. It just proves that I had a deprived childhood next to the one that our future king is now living.

More proof that I'm a responsible parent (and are there really so few Orgites who want to talk strollers?):

Well Lemur where would the future ruler of the world be without a little tolerance to pain/electricity?

Yes I do know that the sign is just part of the exhibit or whatever

Still nothing to say about strollers....

The moral of this thread: Everybody's up for talking about child endangerment, very few want to talk about strollers. At least it was an excuse to show Maxwell with a giant snake.

Here's the question -- we've a daughter due in April. Should I subject her to the same animal-handling courses that I've given Maxwell?

Well where does your daughter stand in relation to your plans for Maxwell's triumphant conquest of the world?:inquisitive:

From a purely practical stand-point children should be exposed to animals and dirt and all of that because otherwise, iirc, they have a higher chance to develop allergies.

I'm glad I was a dirty child.:inquisitive: :laugh4:

We got the Phil and Ted's e3, its as clever as a clever thing that just passed all its A levels. https://secure.intellihost.co.nz/philandteds.com/framesetstroller.htm Since you have the second lemur on the way, you might like to check it out, it was by far the best double pushchair we found.

We got a Brio Kombi.
Since we live in a penthouse sans elevator, the detachable bag is essential.
There's room for quite a lot of groceries underneath, and it's a solid quality product - we want the best for our baby and all that.

Didn't bother with a pram/stroller , just bought a sling , only 10 quid and it don't take up any space , you don't have to fold it to get in the car or on the bus and no grief with steps .

Good point. A couple lengths of rope, some duct tape to hold li'l nipper's bottom, wala! baby tucked away while walking. :)

I admit I used a sling for my own kids. Apartment living, with shops & restaurants nearby made strolling with daughter on my hip a pretty fine evening. That cotton gadget folded up & fit in my back pocket, when not in use. Probably cost 5 1973 dollars.

The stroller/pram outfit was for the grandson... ya gotta buy stuff for 'em, yanno?

Eugh... boring. Get back to the child endangerement! Who here has ever exposed their infant child to live crocodiles/alligators?

Come on Zorba this is fascinating! It is a glimps into another world which is seperate from our own by years and a number of great responsibilities.

To contribute to the discussion I'd just like to add that those carts pulled by bikes rock! One of my early memories comes from being pulled along on the pitted dirt roads around here by my parents and eating animal crackers. Now that was riding in style!:2thumbsup:

Well, Maxwell has dealt with the undead. This ties into the exhaustive "Zombie Apocalypse Survival Plan" discussion that raged for 24+ hours in the chat room ...
