I got my very first prostate exam yesterday and I was wondering if maybe I should send the doctor flowers or chocolates or write a poem or something.

I'm a really health conscious person and think I should get this done once a week, I hope the office has those little cards where they punch the holes out and after 6 exams I get a free one, like at Subway, but with sandwiches not prostate exams.

Both flowers and chocolates if he has both hands on your shoulders while examining your prostate.

As a "giver" of the old exam once every now and then (Oh God I love my job... :inquisitive:) I've never been given anything, no flowers, no compliments. Perhaps I'm not being considerate enough...

MRD, what is it that was so good you think you'll have one every week? Sounds like the person who did that one could give me some tips.

I always thought the "receiver" was the one to get flowers and compliments...

Oh, and MRD, if you get a DRE every week wouldn't you start needing a "second opinion" after awhile? Then, maybe you should start giving gifts.

I think I will run if I notice that. Anyways I get mine next month for having blood in my stool.

Are you...supposed to see a doctor about that?

Blood in one's stool:

Amount
Frequency
Seperate (e.g. on the paper) or mixed in with the stool
Pain on passing blood
Weight loss
Concurrent anaemia
General bowel habits / stool consistency
Any mucus

AFAIK, prostates are not a makor cause of blood from the anus. Off the top of my head I can only think that prostate cancer could only cause it if it was very widespread.

But anyhoo, if you want someone to nudge your prostate for bleeding (Roadtrip seems to come to mind...) have fun

AFAIK, prostates are not a major cause of blood from the anus.

Colon cancer is, so if it's frequent you might want to get it checked. I think the procedure is rather similar (in through the out hole) but they don't feel up your prostate.

At least I didn't feel anything special :sweatdrop:

Perhaps if you were to offer a simultaneous "reach-around" thank-you gifts would be more forthcoming?
