Hello,

I've been a member of this forum and I realize that it might cost money.
I'm EXTREMELY thankful for all the mods and cool peeps here and I want to give something beyond just hist. info. back.

Could someone please clarify how this is being financed, I would like to make a monetary contribution!

Explain first, money later. Really! :2thumbsup:

Sincerely, Hellas1

We appreciate the gesture, but we're totally non-profit. Totally.

Staff are unpaid volunteers. Content contributors (guide writers, mod coders, opinion providers, historians - amateur and professional): all unpaid volunteers. Tech helpers: no bucks there either. Political pundits in the backroom - we're considering whether to charge for that webspace; we can't decide whether to charge by-the-character, or by-the-argument. (j/k fellas).

A company named Telefragged hosts the webspace, bandwidth, and physical servers, for reasons that make sense to them.

This forum is really lovely, and at least Telefragged realized that it's too valuable to pay for it....

Dear KukriKhan,

I posted my concern, because I was quite frustrated with the speed with which a number of mods started then abruptly ended. Many of them.

I thought, "well, if I mention to the moderators my idea of monitoring people's activity by them contributing somehow, via hist. info., money, etc or whatever, the proposed mods WOULD ALL be done.

As for myselfI figured that since I was "taking," that is downloading other people's work, that I should contribute somehow back. I decided to contribute w/hist. info. to whatever point I could, then it dawned on me that this forum and the mods distributed through it might...cost money.

Well, I offered. I will still contribute what I can and when.
Most mods are outside of my historical knowledge and therefore out of my reach.
I have no modding software or coding exp. or tools either.

Thanks for responding! Hellas1 :2thumbsup:

P.S. Why would Telefragged do this for free?

Hello hellas1,

Thanks for the offer.

Telefragged hosts the banners: those will generate some cash.

Some mods have pay-pall links on their sites. If you want to contribute to them you can use these to donate money (though in the case of R:TR you are advised not to use the .com site: it no longer belongs to the R:TR team). But many modders work for free, and their main reward is the knowlegde that you appreciate their efforts.
