Why aren't we allowed to have bigger sigs?! Come on!

I wanna have this one, it says it's too big.

At least leave bigger ones for the veterans(I got almost 2600 posts!)

Signatures are limited to allow people with less powerful hardware browse the forums, whithout having to turn off signatures. The option for an extra optional expansion was raised, but not many are commenting.

It's not the people speaking against it cancelling this, for it's optional, but the lack of input by people who will use it.

I don't like Cola, but I'm not going to deny anyone to drink it while browsing these forums.

The code is still there, waiting to be activated.

But, why? I mean, come on, the people with less powerful hardware/dial-up connections probably make up 10% of people who visit this place, and under 5% of the dedicated posters. If they're too cheap to stop using Pentium II PC's and dial-up connections, then that's their fault and their loss. If everyone lived by your philosophy, the internet would be a very drab place...

I think we have a language barrier here: there's an option to move forward, but instead of hurting the 10%, an extended box for pictures is made. All I ask to those hardcore guys: what can you handle? 20 kb, 100 kb, 1 mb, 3 mb?

Currywurry it is not that I am too cheap to get broadband, it is that I live with my parents and no broadband connection reaches this far into the middle of nowhere. This also isn't a horrible computer, it is a P4 2.2ghz, I just can't get anything better than 56k. If we could we would.

I thought the PDA skins had been created for the people with dial-up connections.

I've got a nice sig, in my opinion, but I had to size it down a lot for the sig limitations and it doesn't look great.

I see nothing wrong with up to 100kb, I think it should be height/width limits rather than size in kbs. :balloon2:

With the current limitations I can manage having sigs and such enabled, if people want larger ones they should contribute ideas and feedback on the optional increased sig size.

BTW Tosa are ads disabled in the dial-up skin or is it just me?

I wanna have this one, it says it's too big. That's because you used the wrong format. Just remember: PNG is for pictures with solid colors and sharp boundaries, like a pic of this message board. JPG is for pictures with varying colors and fuzzy boundaries, like a photograph or a banner with fancy lighting effects. Compare:

Can you tell which one is 82 KB and which is 10 KB without checking the size manually? I suspect not. Feel free to use my modified version, which is under Guild limits, but please rehost it at ImageShack or elsewhere (right-click the image, save it somewhere on your computer, then go to Additional Options below and upload it to ImageShack there).

(If you didn't figure it out, the small one is on top, the big one is on the bottom.)

Where is the middle of nowhere?

Southwestern Vermont, USA.

The most rural state in the northeast, and I happen to live right next to the New York border and on a town line so nobody really cares about this particular stretch of road.

I would like to see an increase in file size but not in picture dimensions. 20 kb would be an improvement, and 100 kb would be plenty. 1 MB would be too large, methinks.

I think the current size is adequate without causing eye-bleedingly slow page-loads on dial-up, even if it is running slow like mine is now!
