Ok.
heres the deal.

Im about to (or atleast thinking of) Make(ing) A Webpage for people to upload there STW, MI, WE. Battle replays to.

I had thought of structuring it so Each player gets a folder to hold their replays in.

I.e
I woukld get a ShambleS folder.
and i would upload all my Replays there, (renamed according to relivance)

Also other people can be given a folder for the same purpous.
Also Log files could be saved there.
This would give people A place to keep there replays. And view others.

I am hoping to find out from this post.
Howmany people would wish to upload battle replays in such a manner.
And prehaps findout if any 1 knows of a stand alone DAT player. that can play the STW replays, so that they dont need to be renamed by the people who download them.
(I personally believe that the gfx details are only in STW, And the dat file just reminds STW what happend. So that a standalone DAT player wont play it as the dat file has no GFX data in it)

People would be welcome to upload Fraps Movies and such as well though.

Any way..
Input would be good..

Just wanted to tell you guys that when I tried to go to the link Krasturak provided, the smartfilter at work blocks it as "violence".
Who'd have thought it? :laugh4:

Hi Krast

Create 2 d/top icons name one Record and in Properties in the Target line ,after exe" leave a space and put ER
and name the other one Replay and in Properties in the Target line after the exe" leave a space and put mEP

Run the game from the Record icon (the game is saved in the Dumplog)

Run the game from the Replay icon to view the replay. (each game has to be renamed replay to view)

Happy hunting.

is there no stand alone replay viewer that can play all replays from the diferent games?

if not..
any one here have the background for making one?

m prety sure that all the pic details excterea are in the game dir.
and the replay files are basically algorythms of what happend "for want of a better word"
Logically it should be possible to make a stand alone viwer that has the the data to play all the replays.

but i cant even pretend to know what to do :)
i can make little tile based rpg's with litt;e scripts in them that warp you to a nother room when you walt over a certain tile..

(took me 3 weeks to make 5 rooms 4 charicters "3 were npc's with dialoug 1 of them ran a shop. 12 weapons and a set of clothes and it still looked like a 6 year old drew it)

So i dunno..
any 1 here able to do it?

Where's the Properties, and what do you mean by Target line?

Shaka, you do have a shortcut to Shogun somewhere on your desktop
or your startmenu. Right click on it and select Properties.
A window opens. Select the register-card "Shortcut", the middle one of three.
Look for the entry "Target" which looks ca. like this:
"C:\Programs\Shogun_Total War\Shogun.exe"
Change it to
"C:\Programs\Shogun_Total War\Shogun.exe" mEP

Save.

You could record with FRAPS and encode it with xvid to reduce the size.
Would cost a lot of time, though.

The replay has to be run back through the same game and same unit stat files with which it was made. The only thing in the replay file are the commands the players gave the units.

Yeah i kind of guessed that with the replay file sizes.

I still believe that its possible to make a stand alone player that has the data needed to play replays.
The only way i could possibly make 1 is to start decompiling shogun.
Which im not allowed to do.

but there are many clever people in this world.
who could probably figure out how to do it.

Was hopeing one of these people would be around.

WOW, thanks m8! I don't even have to download an extra program. I'm surprised that I didn't know this for such a long time. ~:thumb:
