I'm playing an early English hard GA campaign with the XL mod. I'm really enjoying myself because it's really more challenging than the vanilla MTW-VI.
There are also some new units available with the XL mod (like the norman knights). My question is now What changes I should make to my army composition to make.
normal defending composition (in early)
4 feudal spearmen
3 archers
4 feudal MAA ( or 1 or 2 UM or Militia Sergants)
2 light cavalry (hobilars or mounted sergants)
2 heavy cavalry (keudal knights if available otherwise royal knights)
1 general (only used in a pinch so unit type is not important but I prefere a mounted general)
normal attacking composition (in early)
3 archers
spears, attacking infantry (mix of MAA UM and MS) and cavalry depends on composition of enemy army ( see the rock-paper-scissor priciple)
I tend to have infantry heavy armies, with the exeption of my hobilar armies in the first 20 turns. I basically use the 'hammer and anvil' principle and try to avoid moral penalties.
So keeping in mind my play style, how do I fit in the new XL English units?
