RESOLUTION TO EXPAND AID TO THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Submitted by William Tennent High School

1. Whereas, the increase in tensions in Eastern Asia provides a direct threat to the
2. United States economically, militarily, and politically, and
3. Whereas, the People’s Republic of China has adopted an aggressive
4. anti-American stance in world politics, and
5. Whereas, the PRC has aggressively threatened the Republic of China (Taiwan)
6. with both economic and military action, and
7. Whereas, the RoC is a pro-American democracy and economic giant where a
8. great deal of American business is located, and
9. Whereas, the presence of a United States Carrier Battle Group is one of the few
10. deterrents that prevent the PRC from trying to retake the island of Taiwan, and
11. Whereas, Chinese military action in the region could provide disastrous for
12. neighboring nations, such as the Republic of Korea, and
13. Whereas, it is the moral obligation of America to defend Democracy whenever
14. it is threatened by totalitarianism, and
15. Whereas, the PRC is a corrupt dictatorship and the RoC is a pro-American
16. democracy,
17. Be it resolved here by the Student Congress here assembled that the United
18. States Government shall provide economic, political, and military backing
19. to the Republic of China and will pursue economic and political sanctions
20. on the People’s Republic of China should it’s stance towards the Republic
21. of China not change.

Interesting resolution. Methinks it will work well with your passion about these kinds of things. Just make sure to mention nukes--not on our side, but from the scary yellow empire across the Pacific. You know how fun it is to turn everything to the end of the world in debates. :laugh4: I mean, Judicial Activism is the end of the world, dammit! Now vote negative!

However, our resolution is much better, though not exactly mine (since I am a Lincoln-Douglas lone wolf, not a Congress sleeper), as we decided that castration should be used on sexual offenders. :laugh4:

When will it be your Congress time? If it hasn't passed already, I am willing to help you out with the author speech, and even brainstorm arguments.

Though if I ever do Congress, or Senate, for that matter, the resolution would involve either the expulsion of Wisconsin/North Dakota from the Union, or why Florida should be part of Cuba--or the opposite, Cuba should be districts of the Florida state. It would be fun.

Well, it's a local compitition (not for NFL Districts, I'm doing a Pro-Patriot Act or your a CommuNaziTerrorist speech for that), so I need to get the bill through caucuses (at my school lol), so that shouldn't be a problem. Help with an authorship speach would be great, I get about 7 minutes for that I think, and 3 minutes for every other speach.

Congress will be sometime in April, I think around the 15th. Caucuses are the 28th of this month, and Districts are next Friday.
