Well, looks like Bill has finally lost it. There are several blogs detailing his freak-out on his radio show. I'll repost the salient bits.

Apparently he's in some sort of feud with Keith Olberman. I don't know why, nor do I care. But when callers mentioned K.O.'s name on his radio show, he blew a major fuse: (http://mediamatters.org/items/200603030010)

O'REILLY: Orlando, Florida, Mike, go.

CALLER: Hey Bill, I appreciate you taking my call.

O'REILLY: Sure.

CALLER: I like to listen to you during the day, I think Keith Olbermann's show --

O'REILLY: There ya go, Mike is -- he's a gone guy. You know, we have his -- we have your phone numbers, by the way. So, if you're listening, Mike, we have your phone number, and we're going to turn it over to Fox security, and you'll be getting a little visit.

HILL: Maybe Mike is from the mothership.

O'REILLY: No, Maybe Mike is going to get into big trouble, because we're not going to play around. When you call us, ladies and gentleman, just so you know, we do have your phone number, and if you say anything untoward, obscene, or anything like that, Fox security then will contact your local authorities, and you will be held accountable. Fair?

HILL: That's fair.

O'REILLY: So, just -- all you guys who do this kind of a thing, you know, I know some shock jocks. Whatever. You will be held accountable. Believe it. We'll be right back.

Olberman had fun with it on air. (http://movies.crooksandliars.com/Countdown-Falafel-police.wmv) It's cute when anchor boys get in a tussle.

Now people are reporting that they're actually getting calls from Fox security. Amazing! This puts Fox in a dubious legal position, and it will be neat-o to see if they really attempted to induce local law enforcement to investigate people for mentioning a newscaster's name on another newscaster's radio show.

It certainly looks as though (a) Bill O'Reilly believes that he has his own police force, and (b) has utterly lost his mind.

I can't stand cable news, and thanks to the wonderful world of blogs, I can still find out who's having an on-air meltdown. Without having to watch the darn things.

So he knows his phonenumber, that is hardly intimidating. Embassy's, that is where it's happening.

Full meltdown mode? Please! He didn't even raise his voice. I'll agree that saying he'd have security visit the guy's home was a bit weird, and overreacting. He went down (further) in my book for saying that stuff. But he didn't 'blow a fuse' or 'go into meltdown mode'.

This is a pretty stupid topic. You're writing about how a radio host is overreacting-but not even raising his voice- w/o providing any context; according to one of your sources, this Mike guy is involved in a campaign to irritate Bill by calling his radio show. Wow, BFD.

Fox security at work, helping secure America against fundamentalist terrorism.

the caller could have been calling to condemn the guys show and agree with O'Reilly but he didn't even let him say anything...

So it I'm understanding you correctly, going insane is synonymous with raising one's voice? Interesting.

Yeah, his radio show is pretty hilarious- I've had the misfortune of listening to it a few times while driving..... You really can't get the full picture of what an egomaniac he is just by seeing him on TV. :dizzy2:

Erm...no. I never said that. I said that going into 'meltdown mode' requires one to lose a bit of personal composure; i.e. like raising their voice. Kindly take back your strawman. :book:

STOP

Don't you ever wonder why you never hear foul language on the radio? That's because there is a delay.

So STOP mischaracterizing O'Reilly's actions. I agree that he is a blowhard, but Lemur, this thread is just unfair bud. You have no idea what the caller said, and I would argue that it is probably something unacceptable even in the Org.

The Div, aka "Junior Member"- Out.

Normally I would agree. However, I have no qualms about being unfair to a guy like O'Reilly. It's much the same way in which I normally don't approve of fat jokes, but make exceptions for Rosie O'Donnel and Rush Limbaugh. Some people deserve a little tit for their tat.

Also, if we are to believe the bloggers (always a questionable decision), nobody was saying anything obscene. The mere mention of another newscaster sent the Bill into a police-action.

Does anybody think that telling callers they're going to hear from Fox security isn't hilarious? Look out, it's Fox security! That's the bad heat, man!

Exactly. If anyone has had the misfortune of watching the Oreilly Factor he usually shouts down any guest and never allows for a full explaination or answer from guests. He then gives them the token "I'll give you the last word" but have the time interupts them there as well!!! He's a dinkle wrinkle, no doubt.

Shut up, you fools! Another thread like this, and we're going to be finishing our debate in Gitmo...

Anyway...

Fox should change their moto from "We report, you decide", to "Bill O'Reilly knows where you live"
