Zombie Factions?

Killed factions keep having diplomatic relations. For example, 20 years after the Macedonians - who back then were my allies - were completely annihilated, I suddenly got a message (as a result of a failed assasination) asserting that the Macedonians have broken their alliance with me. A few years later I got another message that they also broke their alliance with the Dacians. Of course, there's no trace of Macedonians in the Diplomacy screen or on the map... Is it possible that a faction reemerges, like in MTW, or is it just a bug? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Try open the in-game console by pressing the | key on your keyboard(it`s on the upper left of it. It also has the § symbol on it).
Type in toggle_fow, and see if you still can`t see any Macedon territory.

I bet you find them in Cyrene, south of Crete.

Also, there is a strange bug (feature?) where if the Macedonians had a stack of troops or a fleet and you remove them by taking their last city, the stack will become rebel but when you get into combat with it the rebels will have the macedonian flag.

You can tell with fleets because when the first screen pops up (the one where you hit automatically resolve) the enemy fleet will show the Macedonian flag instead of the rebel one. Prolly a continuation of the same thing happened to you, like you attacked a rebel stack that used to be a Macedonian army or something.

I'm sorry, Viking, but you lost your bet. The Macedonians are nowhere on the map, as it should be taking into account that they do not appear in the Dimplomatic screen where - correct me if I'm wrong - you can see all existing factions, even if you had no contact with them.

But have you tried toggle_fow? The bug might be the other way round - they are alive but do not appear on the diplomatic screen.

But if you have checked...then I have no idea what so ever.

I've experienced this before with Numidia. Several decades after being wiped out of the game, messages appeared that alliances with them were being broke etc. This was a version 1.2 campaign and it's never happened since.

I've tried toggle_fow, of course. It's the same thing as in professorspatula's case, but I don't thing it has anything to do with old patches, because I have the latest patches installed. Could it be related to the fact that i have the Italian version? (which, as you can see on the official website, had a particular bug from the beginning, although I can't remember what it was - something related to the events).

That could be it. I can gurantee you that it has never happened to me with any of the patches.
