Sometimes if i get bored i like to play custom battles, pick arcade style, pick a unit upgrade the unit alot and fight against hordes of enemies. It's fun to see troops hacking at each other! :charge: :duel:

Arcade just means lots of dead enemy generals and annoyingly expensive retraining costs, because the enemy just don't run.
What does the acarde setting do in the first place? From what I´ve read it switches off all ammo limitations and morale, so units always fight to death. Where´s the sense of using such an option?

Old School feel? No clue what people play arcade style for. Units also don't get tired.
Who likes to use Arcade Style Battles?
No one...
Unlimited pilas really spoil the gameplay.

I do if I want to see peasants last against Spartans for a while.

I think its the default setting when you buy the game. So Im sure Ive used it once. Never used it again.
I've considered turning off unit fatigue a few times, if only to get the AI a better chance. The AI is definitely not good at keeping it's troops fresh, often it'll charge them around the battlefield yielding tired or exhausted troops when the units finally engage. I've never gone through with it, however, esp. since it would take away one of the weapons horse-archers have (forcing troops to sit and take the arrow fire, or charge after the horse-archers). Plus, it nullifies "good stamina" virtues of certain unit types.
But the other switches I leave on realistic settings (ammo limits, morale, etc).

Don`t think it is. I turned it on once, just to test it, but I`ve never used it in a campaign.

Im actually living in Oxford now while i finish university, and my parents moved out of Warwick a few years ago to Leamington Spa, which is just down the road. Warwick hasnt changed much really, a few nice new restaurants and bars, much more acquainted to pensioners rather than young folk
The tours of the castle are still fantastic, and if your planning on coming up during the summer take time to see if any good live acts are playing, as theyve had some great gigs over the last few years. I saw Clapton last year and it was brilliant.
If your into medieval stuff then check out Kenilworth castle while your at it too, lots of historic reading which i found very interesting! One of my fave pubs is just around the corner from there called the Virgin on Castle. Its the oldest pub in the area, and is said to have a secret tunnel going to the castle, which has never been found *ohhh*, more importantly the ales and lager are top notch.

I played them once in MP, and also used an army picked by the PC. Surprisengly, my army formed of auxila units (Cav, archers and infantry) holded up against an army of urbans.. For a couple of seconds.. (They got slaughtered, yes. An urban from the front and a praetorian from the back..)

No more arcade lovers? Better delete this thread before CA discovers that the Org does not represent their target customers at all, or at least the view they have of their target customers.

I tried Arcade Style battles, ONCE. I thought that it would be good to have unlimited arrows when archers were on the walls, as I am sure that there would have been more than one quiver per man available when there are 3,000 barbarians outside the walls.
What I didn't like was the fact that when battles began, there was no opportunity to deploy them where the archers, nor anybody else would do a bit of good. When the game starts, and all of the enemy is at your Northeast Corner, and every archer you have is on the ground over by the West Gate, every one of them has to be moved to where they are useful before they ever start shooting.
Normally, my archers kill about half of the enemy army, the cavalry about a third, and the walls most of the remainder. Infantry rarely are even able to engage. With Arcade battles, archers kill less than 10% if that.
Arcade battles may be fine for me, but I prefer to stay out of them.
