i eat pretty healthy and actually eat breakfast cereal as a dessert occasionally when it is in my house.
I just opened a box of cinnamon toast crunch. The things were tiny, dark brown and the cinnamon/sugar wasn't loose and delicious.
I ate it and now i feel betrayed. I love "breakfast cereals" and eat them as a super sugary dessert ONLY
i will never buy them because they have too much sugar, but now they also taste like crap. congratulations. I used to buy them as dessert, now i will not buy them at all
i am so disappointed
It isn't my fault that some parents are to stupid to realize that it isn't good for kids to eat for breakfast.
i think we should sight a petition to get food that isn't good for us to taste great and food that is good for us to taste okay
because new "improved" breakfast cereals aren't good for us and now they taste like crap
the end
i wrote this liek a 4 year old

That's awesome! It looks like he's about to get in a fight with somebody.
I eat 'honey nut cheerios' in the morning, probably should eat 'total rasin brand', but I hate how the rasins always sink to the bottom......
The sugary stuff, especially 'Count Chocula', is disgusting.....

Cinnamon Life, yummy and good for me. The only thing is I never eat it or any cereal in the mornings; I usually have it in the evening.
Thinking of cereal makes me think of the “Nuts N Bits” skit.:laugh4:

.... I hate cereal. most of the time I have 2 Eggs, 2 Pieces of Toast with Butter, a Glass of Milk (1%), Yogurt (I used to HATE Yogurt), and like an Orange or a Banana, this is assuming I don't wake up too late for school or work, in which case I bypass the whole breakfast routine for a Bagel and a hot 16 ounce Cup of Coffee at some nearby cafe.
Organic cereal with a load of blueberries and bananas - six days a week. Add a whole wheat bagel with organic peanut butter and jelly, and you've got breakfast. (At least your first breakfast.)
On the seventh day it's off to the greasy spoon for eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, potatos, toast, endless coffee, and the newspaper cover to cover.
Hate the new cereals. Even the kids don't really like them. We get them organic rice crispies (really, really good) or organic corn flakes (also really good).
Maybe 25% of the time we use organic milk. That's going to change. I think we might try and go 100%.
Hey, isn't cereal Frontroomish material?
Porridge baby!
Low fat, no sugar, no salt, low gi, reduces cholesterol, keeps you going until lunch. Stick a bit of soya milk and some honey and fruit in and it tastes fine (you get to like it after a while).

I don't like organic foods. I think that the synthetic foods move through the system better and I don't fart as much. Down with carbon based food! :laugh4:
My God! Are the whole wheat cereals that bad? My favorite bread is whole wheat soft oatmeal and it's awesome! I guess I'll have to try the new treats, but it seems like I might find the box tastier.

what's funny is the UK version is called Weeta-bix. Same photo on the box, same brand font and style, same cereal, just a different name.
I eat Weet-bix, healthy and nice...

I find the idea of organic food a bit rediculous. They prevent many great advances in food production just so they can slap a organic label and have a nice hippe fan base to sell to. The idea that groundwater pollution and other form of pollutants getting into the enviroment all in the name of "organic" food is ridiculous, and personally I dislike the idea of having my food grown from uncleaned cow sh*t anyways.

Organic food producers don't "prevent" advances, they just choose to grow/raise food without unnatural chemicals or feed. It's a little more expensive, but some people are willing to pay that premium. Before you knock organics, maybe you ought to look a little closer into how food is mass-produced these days. There are some very unsavory practices being used, our British cousins here can definitely regale us with cautionary tales on BSE. Short term gain in cattle size for the long term problems of whole herds slaughtered, exports banned, and food safety image harmed for a very long time.
I'm not a hippie vegan tree-hugger, but I do eat some organic food. Organic beef tastes better anyway. Same with organic milk (for some reason, it keeps longer too, haven't figured this one out yet).

Not trying to knock the whole idea of growing "naturally". Just the methods and regulations regarding how you can grow it. They can't use clean human waste as fertilizer, so instead the farmers tend to use uncleaned cow waste which can cause toxic runoff and groundwater pollution. It's not so much that organic is bad and all that, its just that the rules regarding it can cause many significant problems.

i'm not a hippie either but i prefer to eat only organic food, except for the occasional slice of new york pizza. it costs a lot, but there isnt any real city in the fashion-photo world where organic food cant be had. the other day i sipped a coke (first time in 2 years) and nearly choked because it was so bad. only veggies and sushi for me.

Well my mom is a food scientist (meaning she works with these products and knows what she is talking about) and she has told me that the traces of whole grain are very, very minamal. Personally I agree and I don't taste too much of a difference.
For cereals I may disagree, but when it comes to other things such as cookies, whole grain makes them taste..well...not so good...

Traces of whole grain in which products?
Weet-bix are 97% wholegrain... while some cereals are 5%
:idea2: Whole Grain Cereals are bad. One should eat potatos and onions pan fried in bacon grease every morning with a couple of slices of Wheat bread toast to soak up the grease that was not soaked up by the potatos.
:skull:
When I was going to school, breakfast was half of a 2L of leftover RC cola and a slice of pie or something equally absurd. Lately, it's Cap'n Crunch or Honey Nut Cheerios.
You know what ruled? Rice Krispie Squares cereal. Whatever happened to it?

Well, I'm being healthy now and all, but in the old days, I had a few really unhealthy breakfast habits. Like 3 years ago, for a week I had vodka and orange and Oreo biscuits for breakfast. I finished a bottle and a half of vodka this way.
Now I have porridge, berries and orange juice 5 days a week, and eggs, bacon, toast with butter, etc. on weekends. And feeling great.

I've grown accustomed to porridge.
Before, I only had coffee and cigarettes for breakfast.
Now I do fix myself porridge but add a bit sugar and real milk (from cows).
For those of you who can't get down something solid, it's perfect because you almost drink it. (Yes, I still have teeth)

What I loved about this was the specification of wheat bread to give it that "healthy" touch. Its like the solitary grilled half tomato that is the only concession to vegetable matter in a full English.
To be fair, this IS a balanced breakfast...so long as you are a stevedore.
I'll eat anything for breakfast so long as it is available between 7.50 and 8 am. Left over curry from the night before is especially good.

Actually I do enjoy a bowl of oatmeal with just a tab of butter and a drop of milk mixed into it.
Not a bad breakfast meal at all.

Have some grits - a fine breakfast meal.
Add just a touch of maple syrup and its better then oatmeal anyday.

I used to eat Post's Cranberry Almond Crunch and Maple Pecan Crunch cereals in the morning until a few weeks ago. I liked the taste, and the flakes stayed crunchy for fairly long time. However, they were expensive, had small boxes, and were very caloric. I don't think they were very healthy, and eating a large bowl after some eggs made me feel like a walking beach ball an hour later.
I switched to Rice Chex.

Plain (or onion) bagel and lots of coffee. I like Honey Nut Cheerios and a few other cereals, but only go with them on weekends, when I'm not scrambling to get out the door on time.

To truely experience the gift of the gods that grits are one must come into the United States - the futher south one goes the better they get.
Grits if I remember correctly come from corn.

hmm, sounds good, i like corn, especially tortilla chips...
so is grits like a kind of porrige then?

Grits are a lot like cream of wheat. They're corn meal pounded to the point that they form a meal. They're then boiled to soften them up. Pour butter, salt & pepper over the top, and voila!
Oh, on cold days, love oatmeal.
What exactly is porridge?
Byzantine Mercenary
03-09-2006, 23:52
its rolled oats mixed with water or milk and heated.

Grits are pablum for Texans. They just thought "grits" sounded tougher.
Mind you, with a plateful of eggs and hashbrowns and sausages, grits are dee-licious.

They even better sitting next to the pan fried in bacon grease potatos and onions with eggs over-easy.

I'm not a huge breakfest person. I usually just have a bowl of cearal and juice. My stomach can't handle much that early.
