Hi.

This battle involves 5 stacks of units.

Dacia is the attacker. They have one General in their top stack, and two within their second army.

Brutii is the defender. There is one General in the third stack.

I am Brutii and I can turn off the AI control of my armies. So I can command them all in the battle.

My question. Are my overall forces being 'commanded' by the Captain in the first army?

It seemed to be.
- Only the captain had the 'rally troops' ability.
- It was very hard fought.
- Did feel I was '0' command against enemy '7' command
- My troops routed quickly. The Dacians fought hard.

I had hoped my General would take over command in this situation...or at least provide his bonus to my troops once he came onto the battlefield and merged into the other forces already present.

What do you think ? Does only the 'top'commander, as in listed at the top, provide any bonus to your troops ?

If your top General in your first stack dies, the next one replaces him (silver starred one). I'm not sure about the other stacks though, I think they are just commanded by their own respective silver-starred generals (or at least they were in vanilla).

Related question..

How come the AI can't control captain-led armies at all, regardless of whether you turn AI control on. This a bug?

As to your question, not too sure. I would think the General would take command.
