This is a little strange but has happened to me twice- I have besieged a settlement with a sizable stack inside, and another one of that factions armies has come to the rescue and engaged me in battle. I play the battle and the reinforcements (the guys inside the city) are delayed, which means they never appear on the battlemap. I comprehensively defeat the relief force ('cos I'm so damn good) and put them to rout. The battle results in a victory for me, but the original army inside the city suffers no losses as they did not participate in the battle even though they appeared as part of the enemy's total forces. When the battle result screen is closed I go straight to the settlement captured screen with the option to occupy, enslave or massacre. The original stack has completely dissapeared- does not appear outside the city or anywhere. I never even assaulted the city- just responded to an attack by a relieving force.
That doesn't seem quite right to me- the forces inside the city shouldn't automatically surrender when the relief force is defeated. To me this seems like a bug- the inside army is counted as defeated along with the relief force. It does make things much easier for me though.

Is it just with rebel cities? I think rebel armies always go into battle with the "fight to the death" sign on their armies, which means that if they lose, no matter how many men actually survive, they will fade away. Because the enemy reinforcements delayed too long, though according to the strat map they were part of the battle (and therefore defeated), according to the battle map they never participated.

What would be odd would be if this happened with faction armies/cities, because I didn't think they went into sally battles with the fight to the death icon.

its a bug. you'll notice that the army being seiged likely had a "fight to the death" emblem , and you won the battle, so they are gone, even though you didnt fight that particular army

If it was their last turn, and they were sallying forth, I can understand it. I don't know why the game would allow them to disperse though if it wasn't their last turn before surrendering.

Your pc won't allow reinforcements to arrive if it thinks the numbers of men involved will be too much for your hardware. So the game treats that besieged army as if it was at the battle and lost alongside the relief army.

It´s not just rebels that do this. Last night Taras fell for me under theese circumstances. In my prevoius camp with KH Korithos, Demetrias, Pella and Mytilene all fell like this. I´ve long reported CTD´s when you´re besieging and attacked by a relief-force and have tried eveything to get around this problem but nothing seems to work. Maybee this "bug" could have something to do with this setup?

I've had the same problem. I've got this guy who is so close to getting a Triumph against the Carthaginians, but he just can't do it for this exact reason. All the battles he wins are too small, and he needs a buttkicker to boot him to Triumph status.

It's happening to me too - twice in a row actually. A full stack in a city disappeared because they caused one little unit to be formed outside the city from overload, who then attacked me, and caused this issue - where the whole stack just disappeared. It seems like it's not necessarily an EB problem, but it sure has made me irritated.

Least you aren't getting big battles but STILL not getting triumphs. ;)
