View Full Version : Stupid AI on the field

I assume that this has being asked many times, but please bear with me. I've a lot of problems with the AI (of my units and the others), but there's only one problem that I'm worried about. It's like this: I can send, let's say any unit of light cavalry or any other cavalry with "Fast moving", then just wait for the enemy, wich, by the way, can be of 20 units if you want (well it's a little exagerated, but I'm sure it could work even with 10 units). As they're a lot more than me and they cannot reach me I'm just patient and wait for the enemy to chase to exhaustation and then take this distance and finally I wipe them of very easily. I wanted to know if this kind of behavior is corrected or would be in the final realease? I don't mind this when I'm defending because they run out of time, but when I'm attacking is just stupid. Thanks.

We don't have much control of the AI, talk to CA...
Hopefully it's less dumb in 1.5 and hopefully a bit more work on formations help it but that's all we can really do.
Turn the battle timer off before you start the campaign. It’s very annoying when the ai just doesn't want to fight you on the field. Also gives you more time in sieges since fights take longer now.
1.5. A.I. is a massive improvement, partly becaus ethey are more intellegent on the battlefield, and also because they have more balanaced armies.

Are you still having problems getting the buidings to work properly? I thought 1.5 was put on hold because of that.
Based on the above comments, seems like you guys got past that, which is very good.

Yeah, nikolai1962 has been a tremendous help on that. But our mapper is having computer problems in a big way and we just don't have any help currently on this part. Unit and building work is moving along in the port, and I'm working on names transfer now, but the map is something that we don't know about for now.

Thanks for the answers. I'm using 1.6 (Barbarian Invasion) with the an unnofficial fix. The AI is still the same, but I'll try that of turning the limited time off, I don't remember it having any effect, apparantly the AI always understimates what a single unit of cavalry can do when used properly, but I'll try it. Thanks.

The biggest AI problem I've ever had, I've had since Shogun: Whenever I get a badass general, he can be outnumbered 5:1 and the enemy army will always run away before I even get close enough to shoot arrows at them. Sometimes, their infantry crosses the "safe" line before my cavalry reaches them.
