Does anyone now the meaning and use of the "Unique" statement in the "export_descr_ancillaries.txt" file? How does this effect an ancillary that is assigned this statement? Here is an example from the "export_descr_ancillaries.txt" file created by Malrubius...
;------------------------------------------
Ancillary appolonius_of_perge
Image older_man_ancillary.tga
Unique
ExcludedAncillaries appolonius_of_perge
ExcludeCultures barbarian
Description appolonius_of_perge_desc
EffectsDescription appolonius_of_perge_effects_desc
Effect Management 1
;------------------------------------------
Another question too, if this ancillary is "Unique", why is there a line stating...
ExcludedAncillaries appolonius_of_perge
Thanks for any help.
Not sure about the "excluded" bit, but I know that unique ancillaries can only appear once in the game. So whereas a generic ancillary can appear many times (such as surgeons and such), named/unique ancillaries will only appear once.

Thanks for the info, Stuie. That makes sense concerning "Unique".
Now if I can find out what "ExcludedAncillaries" is used for. Anyone know what its used for in the "export_descr_ancillaries.txt" file?
I think Excluded prevents one ancilliary to be used with another. The example seems redundant, if he´s got the Unique attribute that per definition excludes the use of the same ancilliary again (however, it makes sense for generic ancilliaries, to prevent having, say, two biographers on one character). As well, there are some ancilliaries that can´t go together, I don´t have an example in mind, but I know there are.

Ah - right you are! I forgot about that.
For instance, in TFT we wanted Milo and Clodius, but didn't want the same person getting shafted with them. Thus:

Sorry, I missed this question, or I would have answered sooner. I was just keeping the format of the original file's historical ancillaries. It seemed redundant to me, as well.
Also, remember that 3 Excluded Ancillaries is the max. Any more cause CTD's. :dizzy2:
