View Full Version : Most hated subject in school?
My most hated subject has gotta be English. I hate everything about it. Writing, Grammar, etc. Just wondering about other peoples.

math... I mean, Math is okay when it can be applied to something tangible, but I can never seem to retain any information when it's abstract or pointless. Such are my woes with calculus...:laugh4:

It's a close contest between chemistry, physics, maths, french and latin.

English bores me out of my mind. Physics is too difficult. Maths is just too easy and hence boring as well.

Mathematics and Spanish.
Now, I'm interested in math and even more interested in Spanish.

RE. It was just indoctrination in a Catholic school in my day.
I wrote blasphemous parodies of NT stories in my O Level exam and they threatened to automatically fail me for all of my previous exams. I just laughed, and I had always been a quiet kid at school, no trouble at all.
Jeez ~;) what an over-reaction. Just fail a kid for the one exam, don't come on all heavy, that's pathetic.

English, without a doubt.

Welsh. Although I nominally live in Wales, nobody in the south of the country speaks Welsh, and I have no intention of moving to Bedd Gelert. It was a big, fat, compulsory waste of my time.

English and Biology, both due to the teachers. Both are thoroughly unreasonable, often not willing to listen to our explanations for why we thought something was correct and simply saying it's wrong, and both indulge in blatant favoritism. It's a shame, because biology in particular was great when I had a different teacher; the current teacher's the only person to expel me thus far.
French. Rest was fine, French was horrible.
I'd have to say "samfunnsfag", it's a mix between history, geography and, if I assume correctly about what you English\Americans call your subjects, social studies. (How does the legal system work, some ethics etc.)
It's not because I don't like the subjects themselves, I just hate the books and the teacher.
Latin, without a shadow of a doubt

Biology. Call me a nerd, but just about everything else I enjoy in a good class.

Biology. We spent six weeks growing little plants and measuring them. Economics was pretty boring too.

We call it Modern Studies, and it is the most useless subject known to mankind, and the easiest.

I've always hated Art, I have absolutely no talent whatsoever in painting and everything else that I had to do in my Art classes.
Luckily enough our school system allows you to specialise after 3 years of High school, meaning I could drop Art.
Needless to say I did...

I second that. I'd rather spend 4 hours in Calculus than 1 hour in English.

English.
Would've said Maths but we can sit where we want now, so it's ok.

Statistics beat 'em all. No way something can be any more frustrating.
French, oh how do I hate French!
Not the people but the language ofcourse. ( not that we learn about French people. chapter 1, appearance. Chapter 2, their habitat,... :s)

2 years of math in HS, taught horribly. Basically, everyone had to go to the board, one by one, and write down an exercise they had prepared. Hours went by without anything actually happening besides students writing down on that damn blackboard...
I actually went on to take the 'mathematical' package for the next two years. More proof that i'm a masochist
(For the record, my math grades picked up again with a different teacher :2thumbsup: )

French and Pre-calc, but especially French. Can anything be more useless to learn? And I still have a whole other year of it left!:furious3:

yeah, I know those teachers. This year I have such a teacher the only thing is writing some exercises ans if were lucky she sometimes reads a text from the book. My points almost halved because of her. (last year I had 96 now i have 55! and I even learn my maths this year!) But not only does she doesn't do a thing in class she also only checks the awnsers so if you accidentally switched a - with + or something you have a zero on your exercise.
I really hope I have a better teacher next year cause this is just to awfull.
I even like the guy we have for French more. While he's a real ***** at least he does somethng during the classes.
I have no complains about other teachers or subjects tough.

It's a tie between PE and art, although thankfully I have to take neither of these subjects any more. I like all my current subjects.

My three hates at school would be French (the teacher is your stereotypical pompous French fart), Biology and Chemistry. I'm sorry, but I do not see the need to study in great detail the workings of the human body when I have no desire at all to go into medicine or a scientific proffesion when I am older. I doubt having the ability to calculate the pH value will be very useful.
Science, calculus, and English Lit classes.
The best were the creative writing, statistics, Religion and Ethics, and Music Theory
I love Science! English is alright sometimes. I'm gonna have to say Math. Right now we're doing crazy Algebra that makes no sense, and will never be used in the real world. So, it doesn't stick with my brain, since it's not important in my everyday life.

Don't get me wrong, normal math is cool. But this math isn't.

somewhere between Modern European History and Calculus. Which makes.... history of math? :skull:

Maths and Chemistry. I actually like maths for all its logic and stuff, but some stuff seem so abstract that I can't get my head around it, like probability. Chem, I don't think I will ever need it, don't plan on being a chemical engineer (which according to my dad, an engineer, is a very high and well-paid job).
I LOVE english, yes, I like it, its my subject. I enjoy bio too, although I'm not going to be a doc. French is okay, the rest are okay.
