I hope this doesn't get moved because I want the MTW audience to reply to it instead of everyone. My question is the same as the article that I had printed. In the magazine Computer Games, they have a continuing article about being stuck on an Island with absolutely NO internet or multiplayed games. Which five would you pick.

My picks like in my article
1. MTW
2. Unreal Tournament 2004
3. Counter Strike Source - with bot support
4. GTA - San Andreas
5. Conflict - The Middle East Political Simulator which can be found here

Hmm, I play board games too, but for PC games, I'm into role-playing and simulations;

Medieval Total War, Baldur's Gate II, Capitalism II, Warcraft III (want to buy it, loved Warcraft I and II) and can't think of another one at the moment. Not sure about the order. I was surprised to see one of the gamer organizations name Final Fantasy VII as the top game for 2005. Really, I was under the impression that this game had great graphics but a very fixed linear story (in my impression, boring for game play) and an okay engine for simulating the fights. Comments and sorry for the thread hijacking?

To waste time I like playing Solitaire while having music running in the background, on train rides I play chess on my laptop. I don´t start "real" games unless I´ve got at least two to three hours to spare. RTW and MTW, of course, and to complete the five I´d say Jagged Alliance II.

I think its the story line that everyone loves, i like it and always play it through every now and again. some nice side quests and secrets in the game too which is always good.

my five would go about MTW and probly FFVII now you mention it, maybe a good rpg in there like BG2 or possibly Diablo 2(quite boring without online though). Spore (game by will wright(?) of the sims, i know its not out yet but id love to be trapped on an island and playing it right now).

Your kidding right? Once it got to the Lifestream part I lost all interest and understandment in the story. Graphics it was nice but replay it now when we have been experiencing a lot better graphics with todays games and see if it still holds up. I betcha it won't.

I forgot about the Thief series:shame: . I really enjoyed 'The Metal age Thief II.'. Kinda different game, though since I was never good enough for expert (maybe should have got a joystick for that), I still enjoyed killing a few people in most quests. I like how some aspects were open-ended enough that how you finished a quest varied a lot ( of course my time finishing the game was nothing to write home about, but fun as a solo game). I kinda forgot about Civ II as well, used to waste some time on that one too, though I thought the battles were boring:wall: , the tech planning and expanding trade was interesting.

The Bioware RPGs are popular picks :)

I forgot about Severance too, that was a great hack'n'slash game and it's a pity Rebel Act disolved before they could finish Severance II.

Other picks would be:

6. Powermonger
7. Icewind Dale
8. Icewind Dale II
9. Championship Manager 01/02
10. Heavy Gear II

BoD2 was never even started, just talked about. BoD itself was never even a finished game, there is alot of unused code for enemies and weapons, and even character animations that were never used. Some of the members of Rebel Act formed another dev studio and were working on another game which has now also vanished. There is still a small modding community in existance also.

- Rome Total War/BI, plus user mods

- Galactic Civilizations 2

- A chess game of some kind, if we're really talking desert island

- Neverwinter Nights with all the official expansion packs, and a selection of the best user modules

- Orbiter with all the user mods

That last one, if you haven't heard of it, is a realistic space sim based on the Shuttle and previous platforms. It's complicated and really hard to fly with full realism settings. I think I'd need to be on a desert island to get up enough motivation to learn how to fly it well.
