Is there any quantifiable in-game impact to the depth at which you deploy your phalanx?
Anybody beyond the fourth or fifth rank can't reach the front line, but that doesn't make them useless. Real world deep phalanxes had more weight to put into the pushing match (like Epaminondas at Leuctra) but I'm not sure if that is true in RTW. Also there was probably a morale boost in knowing that you had a good deep phalanx of your mates behind you (and an even bigger morale boost if you had a good deep phalanx of your mates in front of you :laugh4: ), but is this the case in RTW?
I have tried my phalanxes at depths from 4 to 12 or so but I can't be sure if there was actually any difference in their performance.
Would it be possible to mod an attack and morale bonus to deep phalanxes?
