Need help with RTW v1.3 patch

After a long absence from the game I thought of giving RTW another go. So I visited this forum to look for new updates and found v1.3 & v1.5.

When I tried to install the 1.3 patch I am getting the following error message:

The programs has encountered an error

Please try the following

- stop all running programs
- empty your temporary folder
- Check your Internet connection

Try running the setup again

Error code -6001
-----------------------------------------------------

I tried everything with no luck. I even uninstalled the program and started from scratch (v1.1) and still no success.

I can really use the help of the experts from this forum.:help:

Have you tried downloading the patches again? Perhaps there was a error while downloading.

Do you run any firewalls, anti virus software while installing?

Thansk for your reply. Yes, I am running the original version of RTW but I assumed v1.3 & 1.5 was meant for the original game. If not can I try and install V1.1, v1.2 & v1.5?

I'll greatly appreciate your advice.

Sorry i made a mistake in the above post and just edited it as you were typing away :shame:

I just checked the official site and its 1.1 then to 1.3 then lastly to 1.5. Sorry its been a while since ive played Rome so my memory was a little rusty.

As ive put above have you got any virus software running? Or any firewalls blocking the setup from running properly? If youve got a quick connection try downloading the patches again to see if the error was during the download.

Those errors are odd as the temp files shouldnt make a difference, as either should the internet connection. The only one that really could be stopping anything in the installation should be the programs running. Do a CRTL + ALT + DELETE check to see if theres any unwanted programs running that could hinder this.

That's also suggesting that your computer may be overwhelmed with it's jobs. Try to reinstall your computer before trying all the things Divine Wind suggested.

I had the same problem a while back. It has something to do with Installshield, though I don´t remember the exact solution. It´s here on the forum, though.

It appears it was an issue with the installshield and now its fiex. Many thanks.
