Ran across the latest round of teacher mischief:

Cops: Teacher had sex with 13-year-old student 28 times in one week (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0404062teacher1.html)
APRIL 4--Meet Rachel Holt. The 34-year-old Delaware teacher is facing rape charges for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old student 28 times during a one-week period last month. Holt, a science teacher at Claymont Elementary School, allegedly had sex with the boy, a student in her class, at her Wilmington home. According to a probable cause affidavit filed today in Justice of the Peace Court, the boy's father contacted cops yesterday afternoon and told them his child was having "inappropriate contact" with Holt. Last night, in an interview at New Castle County police headquarters, Holt admitted she had intercourse with the boy 27 times and performed oral sex once during the last week of March. She also revealed that another student, 12, had watched her having sex with the boy and that she had provided both boys with beer. Holt is being held in a local lockup in lieu of $560,450 bail.

Teacher blows off hand with military explosives during class. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,190582,00.html)
VENTURA, Calif. — A teacher who kept a 40 mm shell on his desk as a paperweight blew off part of his hand when he apparently used the object to try to squash a bug, authorities say.

The 5-inch-long shell exploded Monday while Robert Colla was teaching 20 to 25 students at an adult education class.

Part of Colla's right hand was severed and he suffered severe burns and minor shrapnel wounds to his forearms and torso, fire Capt. Tom Weinell said. No one else was injured. He was reported in stable condition at a hospital.

The teacher slammed the shell down in an attempt to kill something that was buzzing or crawling across the desk, said Fire Marshal Glen Albright.

Colla found the 40 mm round while hunting years ago and "obviously he didn't think the round was live," said Dennis Huston, who teaches computer design alongside Colla.

My Bio Teacher is the man. I wasn't there, but once he poured alcohol (I think it was Jack Daniels but it might have been ethnol) over a desk and lit it on fire. Just randomly.

One of my english teachers (an Ex Navy Seal) picked a student up and held him over his head for a few seconds. Fun stuff.

One of the teachers from my HS got arrested after getting caught with a student in a hotel room. And that's not even the thing that got our HS in the national news.

There were several teachers in my HS that had apparently had had 'a relationship' with a student.

...One of my teachers was a mennonite. I guess that's a bit strange.

My previous chemistry teacher kept chemicals banned for use in schools in a locked cupboard in his lab, and often uses up the school's lithium supplies in the school car park...

In Jr. High our science teacher light a bottle of rubbing alochol on fire while trying to show us a trick with alochol fumes and a 2 litter bottle of soda.

Hmmm and in 6th grade our english teacher (she was an ex marine) threw a desk across the room at a student who wouldnt shut up.

Oh, I almost forgot one interesting thing recently in my high school:
One of the school board directors, mid thirties, resigned (personal reasons or other oppurtunities or somesuch). A couple weeks later, he went to the high school, doped up on something, and went and sat in classroom. The teacher asked him who the heck he was, and the resignee started yelling, so the kids were ushered out and the cops called. When they got there he was holding something, they told him to drop it, he didn't, so they tasered him. They then tried to subdue him, and had to taser him again as he was yelling and kicking.

A sub at my old high school was fired when it came out that he sent a boy in his class porn via e-mail at his prior school (and he was fired from there, too).

A teacher at my old high school hit a boy who was behaving violently. Everyone could see the lad deserved it, so the class just denied anything happened, and nothing was done about it.

Oh, and this isn't strictly to do with teachers, but in my second year of high school an ex-pupil holed up, in the woodland lining one side of the site, with an air-rifle, and started taking pot-shots at students. Armed police had to be called, if I remember correctly.

Armed? For an Airgun?

Wouldn't an annoying student be enough of a sheild?

I think they were being cautious. What with the school being, y'know, full of children and all.

My principle in high school was put in jail for molesting his step-son and my english teacher had a sex change and came back the next summer as Mrs.-Whateverhisnamewas and taught the same subject.

Not that I'm lumping the latter in with the principle, but it was kinda wacky.

I'm sure some of you also have some crazy stories from your school days. Especially you boys who attended catholic school.

I attended a catholic school and it never did me any harm :freak:

Actually, I was that 13 year-old boy. In a school largely controlled by nuns, my French teacher was an absolutely gorgeous 22 year old (non-nun) who was lusted after by all, as you can imagine.

I was the shyest boy in the class, probably the school (possibly the entire country). Got bullied a lot, but pottered through, as you do. I was also pretty bright, and so favoured of most teachers. This woman took a shine to me, and ended up counselling me about the other stuff, self-confidence and the like. To cut a long story short, eventually she took me to bed and boosted my self-confidence in a whole new way. We had an affair for about six months when she moved back to France. I ended up as Head Prefect.

It could be argued it was abuse, or taking advantage of the power relationship, and had I been a girl, this would have much more weight. And this was a long time ago, and it's an old tradition in parts of Europe for an older woman to initiate a boy into manhood. But she helped me start to overcome my chronic shyness, and I'm now successful and happily married. Can't recall 28 times a week though, but you know what young fellas are like :eyebrows:

*sigh* I love the French. :2thumbsup:

Erm, thank you, though I was both lucky and privileged to meet such a woman.

It fascinates me though, as ever when I tell this story, that reactions tend towards the congratulatory, whereas had I been a girl in this situation with a male teacher, there would be bellowing hordes of peasants and pitchforks at the gate ready for a good ol' lynching. :inquisitive:

having the women in question being described as a ""22 year old hottie" there is no one in his right might that wouldn´t think that any boy would want to nail her......so the "abuse" possibility goes straight out the window in that one....:laugh4:

you´re right about the oposite case tough.....just one of those cultural hang-ups I guess.

Indeed, but the news item that started this thread had the female teacher on a serious charge. I expect the 13 year old involved had much the same view as you and I (though Ms Holt is not described, he had enough enthusiasm for her to record 28 times a week) yet she is facing rape charges.

So in my day, whilst not exactly a common-or-garden experience, such an event is viewed as a 'triumph' for a boy, whereas in 2006, he has been raped. Whereas the majority of observers (the population for whom the law is made to protect) would almost certainly agree that he, like most boys his age would say, had lucked-in big time.
