I went out today and bought the Greatest Hits of the Cure and I'm liking what I'm hearing. I was just wondering if there was any other Cure fans out there.:2thumbsup:

I like Gothic Rock but I don't like the Cure. Maybe it's just my ears but I never hear a hook out of any of his songs.

Nah, start with "Lovesong" and "A Forest". Then the whole "Disintegration" and "Pornography" albums. Actually most of their albums heh
Also seeing them live is a worthwhile experience. Robert Smith is still a very intense performer, but I think they 've really cut on the number of their appearances these years.

the Cure are great, saw them a few years ago, much fun. except for their crap support bands.

How could you not love a band fronted by Fat Bob.

I did like them in the 80s. Nowadays, their front guy Robert ? became just pathetic.

I wonder how the single "Killing an Arab" would make it today?
Iirc it goes something like this:

Standing on a beach with a gun in my hand,
Standing on the beach, staring at the sand
Killing an Arab. :inquisitive:

There was a pretty sweet episode of South Park involving Robert Smith. He killed Barbara Streisand, but she was asking for it, because she was mecha-Godzilla.

Well, considering that Albert Camus wasn't that much of a racist, I think it 'd be fine :book:

Actually, the Cure is headed by Robert "Fat Bob" Smithenstein, a rabid and notorious Zionist.

The record company came out with that Camus rubbish to cover their behinds.

OK, here's another strange things about the Cure:
Simon Gallup is a vampire, he doesn't age, look at the pictures.

HE IS IMMORTAL and will suck your blood.

I have something with older music. On my mp3-player Almost all my songs are at least 10 years old. And it's not because I have memories about them or because Iwas young back then (because I'm only 16).

Funny how singers in rock bands tend to do that ... all the drink, drugs, sex, ego gratification overload, and complete lack of self-control. Most of the bands I was in split up eventually because of one member or another becoming disgruntled with the singer and his/her antics.

I like The Cure. I did the same thing: bought their greatest hits long after they were popular and said, "hey, I like this." I bought several other albums by them and ended up just liking the greatest hits best. That one album is all The Cure I need--it's got most of their good old songs on it, and nice new mixes too.
