View Full Version : Noob question
Hey guys, first of all I'd like to say "Hello!" to all Orgah's! I'm a new guy, trying to find my way through this huge metropolis of a website you have here. Anyway, I just wanted to ask the veterans a few quick questions...
(1.) How was it like when there were only a few hundred or less members? Was it like a big happy family?
(2.) Since you're on this site all the time, do you ever get enough time to play the Total War games now?
(3.) What's your favorite faction to play with on Rome and Medieval?
(4.) Do the newbies sometimes become annoying and/or irratating?
Thanks guys, this thread shall be interesting.

(1.) How was it like when there were only a few hundred or less members? Was it like a big happy family?
~ personalities developed differently... there was alot of character role playing... the boards were funnier then too... lots of jokes and one word stories.... online during the begining it was like an extended family... everyone knew everyone.. i could spend a few days writing about the glory days of stw but who whould read that :laugh4: it was much more competetive... back then we had win loss stats on the servers and an honor ranking... clans battled each other and in general the communitly was rich with tons of personality...
(2.) Since you're on this site all the time, do you ever get enough time to play the Total War games now?
~its like a pre game warmup for me... i make a round around the boards b4 i go online.. ususlly takes about an hour..
(3.) What's your favorite faction to play with on Rome and Medieval?
~i dont have one in rome but mtw my favorite were the turks.. they werent as strong as spain for example but i could use some interesting tatics and units that would surprise most players...
(4.) Do the newbies sometimes become annoying and/or irratating?
~sometimes... when they come online and start acting childish that gets to me.. but when i see new players who act with honor i get excited... players like these are what make the community continue to grow and thrive..
from all the old battleaxes like myself... welcome to the org and totalwar.. may you find the game and community as unique and fullfilling as i have the past 6 years

It seems like you believe that you are a Veteran, but it says you are a Junior Member and only has 3 posts. Are you lying to everyone? Or are you just on a new account you created?

1/ I have been on the boards for around three years. For me personally i liked the boards pre rome release. We lost a few chaps around that time who i looked up to and liked especially from the mediavl modding community
2/ I don't get a chance to play the total war series that much at the moment due to real life.
3/ In rome i liked playing as Rome or Britons, in EB either Rome or the Greek cities. Medieval itwas always, England, the Byzantines or the Turks
4/ Only when they come out with really stupid things especially when modding is concerned but the majority don't bother me

1 : Well I'm not around that long, IIRC this place was pretty big even before I signed up, however it still is a Big happy Family !
2 : Well at the moment I'm not reallly playing the Total war games, been busy with real life and Galactic Civilizations II. But there are plenty of other areas on these boards which definatly don't require 24/7 play time of the total war games.
3 : With Rome it was always the Romans, or the Seleucids. With BI it's a tough choice between the WRE/ERE/Franks.
And I always played either the Italians or the English in Medieval and Viking invasions.
4 : No can't say they do, though it sometimes does get slightly annoying when the same question is asked for the [ insert tripple digit number ] time
We do have a search function ! :2thumbsup:

1.There 180+ people on like all the Time,Depending on the Day,on RTW,so it not lonely that much..if you Mean the Old days, I wasn't around for STW, but I was around for the Like (March 2004-Setember 2004) 8 months or so of MTW/VI and it was great having 200-250 people on ALL all the time..
2.Hell Yeah (Excuse my Language)..School and Studying and Family might and does Interfer, but I play 2-4 hours a day, 4 hours on the weekend or for Easter back or w/e, and 2-2 1/2 hours on a school day..
3.STW, that Light Blue guys,or w/e, and the Black Faction and Purple ones,:-) :-) Mediveal, Swiss and Italians and Polish..Rome,Seleciud,BI,Sassdians..
4.Sometimes they annyonig as heck, but sometimes they are respectful and good players..

Heya, Jakenason. Welcome to the Org!
(1.) How was it like when there were only a few hundred or less members? Was it like a big happy family?
Not sure, there was alotta people here when I joined.
(2.) Since you're on this site all the time, do you ever get enough time to play the Total War games now?
When I'm not studying, I come on here and do a bit of switching back and forth from R:TW and the Org.
(3.) What's your favorite faction to play with on Rome and Medieval?
Carthage and England.
(4.) Do the newbies sometimes become annoying and/or irratating?
Not for being new alone. Irritating people are usually irritating whether they're old or new. I spend too much time loafing around the Entrance Hall to be exasperated by noobs.
Enjoy your stay, Jakenason.:balloon2: :balloon2: ~

1. Sorry I'm pretty new myself - so I can't answer that one!
2. Sure do!
3. Have never played RTW. In MTW, my preferred factions so far (in no particular order) are English, Italian, Danes.
4. I'm too new not to regard myself as a newbie, so I'd have to say no. It's intrigueing to see the different viewpoints on the same issues, actually.
Keep on asking bro!
