This forum is for those history fanatics that have noted favourite units in history not present in EB. Be it mercenaries, troops, peasants, etc... Obviously many units are simply not feasable in a gameas accurate as EB, such as Praetorian Guard for example, but this thread should be genuinly considered none the less. With each unit that you wish to include, please give a short description of the unit, as well as its place in history.

For myself, I long to see Libyan Chariot mercenaries. I do not know much about their appearance, but I do know that they could have up to four horses on their chariots. The chariots were commonly used by the Carthaginians and also were part of the Libyan revolt during the Carthaginian mercenary war between the punic wars. They were also used by the Syracuseans when they invaded north Africa, just a little prior to EB's starting time.

They were replaced entirely by the forest elephant after the war with Pyrrhos. I have my own soft spot for the libyans though, and you'll eventually see some libyan mercs, just not in chariots.

It's really a pity. I would have loved to see the carthaginians with the famous Libyan Charioteers. The books I have say that the Carthaginians replaced their own chariots, but it never mentioned the fate of the Libyans.

I would personally like to see Armored Forest Elephants. Just for the simple fact that by most accounts, Forest Elephants were the type that Hannibal had led into Italy during his march against Rome. Also, by most accounts, the elephants he used in his campaigns were armored, probably as heavily as illustrated by armored African and Indian elephants in the game. From a game perspective, the unit would still have 3 hitpoints, but an armor bonus, as well as more costly with about as high an upkeep cost as that of unarmored African Bush elephants.

Just would like to know EBs view on this. Personally, I feel this is a more historically accurate unit than Armored African Bush Elephants.

I think that all of you are taking this question in the wrong manner. Oh well, I agree with SLIDER6977 on the african elephants.

Spartans FTW.
Your wish will be granted, hopefully in the next build.
