do i need to manually install rtw zip pacth 1.2?and if so how do i do that?
I believe just extracting it in the date folder or your rtw folder. If it asks to overwrite something click yes.

same thing happens
Please provide some basic information. What version of RTW are you using? Which version of EB, and how was it installed? (i.e. "EB v.74 on top of EB v.72"). What other mods are installed in your RTW EB directory?
For the record, the preferred installation is:
1) New RTW install (1.0)
2) RTW upgraded to v1.2
3) EB v.72 installed
4) EB v.74 installed
Anything different from this may lead to problems. We may be able to help you fix them, but if possible, try to use the method outlined above.

Vae Victis, Your PM box is full. If anything comes to mind I'll post it here.
I have the same problem as Vae Victus. I installed RTW, then updated it to 1.2 then installed EB 0.7.2 then EB 0.7.4.
I know my RTW isn't corrupt or anything because the RTW folder I copied to install EB in works just fine.
This indicates an installation problem. The only way to solve it is to follow Kull's detailed steps to reinstall the mod.
The mod itself does not have problems with those files, so you're going to see that message only if something messed up during the install or patching process.
It does this for me as well. If it's the FIRST TIME i've launced it it works great... after I close it (in any way -- tried properlly exiting, closing the process etc.) it won't open again UNTIL I REBOOT.. after a reboot it works again until I close it than I need to reboot again-- kind of a pain....
I tried rebooting after I get the error but I still get it anyway. I also tried installing only 0.7.2 in case 0.7.4 was causing the problem but that didn't work either. It is really frustrating because EB looks like a really good mod.
We have a nice FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=63634) that is updated regularly, so it should always be your first stop. And in fact, this very problem is identified, along with the fix:
This is caused by a bad/corrupted download file, you have to download EB again.
There is absolutely no doubt that this error is caused by a bad download, so please get new copies of v.72 and v.74 and reinstall the game again. If you're feeling lucky, just get a new v.74 and install it on top of your old install.....and pray.

I got the same error too, then I read your piece of advice and so I installed new copies of EB v0.7.2 and EB v0.7.4. And guess what: the same error pops up again...
I got my copies from your Europa Barbarorum website so if it is still all about a corrupted file then maybe there is something wrong with the files the EB team uploaded.
EDIT: The error is due to something wrong with EB v0.7.2, or at least when I uninstalled EB and then reinstalled only my copy of v0.7.2 the error appeared again.

I had that same problem also, but here is how I installed everything and it worked. I had a clean install of RTW 1.0. I then installed the .exe format of the 1.2 patch. (The ziped version gave me the error that you guys are receiving). I then installed EB 0.7.2 and then installed 0.7.4 and the error was gone. It worked for me, so give it a shot and see if that works.

Thanks a bundle! I think I will simply redownload my RTW 1.2 patch, although it's an .exe file. Hope this sort things out.
EDIT: Couldn't find an unzipped 1.2 patch, so tried another EB v0.7.2 download link. Kept my fingers crossed and... it finally worked! After just about 5 or 6 hours of doing things to make it work (including reinstalling my RTW and trying every download link the EB team provided me with...) I, or rather chance, finally managed to launch EB. The link from the EB website to 3D downloads proved to be the right one.
