I havn't recieved Everybody's Articles yet, so here's a small issue, just so i can get somethign out.

https://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2025/norg30ov.png

First of all i have a very special interview, with esteemed moderator of The Kingdom of Peace and love
An Interview with Beirut

Ok down to the questions;

First of all I'd like to thank you for agreeing to this interview, a very prestigious second issue it will be! Tell us a little about yourself, the man behind the mask of aloof moderator.

Aloof? I don’t make enough money to be aloof.

I’m your average Joe Lunchbox. But far better looking. I live with my woman and two kids, 8 & 10, in the mountains of Quebec. I’m up early, eat, visit the Org. Then wake up and feed the kids. The woman gets to sleep in. Then it’s off to work, either killing trees or at the log yard building houses. At home I’m utterly lazy. I lie around reading history, watching movies, listening to Floyd, and flying my airplanes on the computer. Like I said, Joe Lunchbox. I had my party days and jail nights years ago, now I’m into relaxation and harassing my woman.

My alter ego plays out as a columnist for a newspaper with a readership of about twenty-five thousand. I’ve been doing it for the past ten years. It’s fun and it allows me to take revenge on people I dislike. I get paid for it, but not very much. I’ve gained a following of readers over the years, which I still find uncomfortably conspicuous, as well as mystifying, but I’m happy people like what I write. Mind you, it’s 50/50 between those who like it and those who would just assume run me over if given the chance. The editor of another newspaper wrote a half-page editorial about me a few years back, calling me a literary terrorist. It was my proudest moment. I knew I had arrived.

This summer I’m going to move my 8x12 shed out back into the woods and make a retreat out of it. Just a desk and chair, a bottle of bourbon, and my collection of antique typewriters. I have several short stories I want to finish and publish in a book. Fortunately I have a huge family so sales will skyrocket the first day (before plunging like a meteor the second). I plan on spending a lot of time in my shed, writing and hiding from reality. I think every man needs a shed. A dog too.

So, a little about your .org History, When were you made a mod, and can you even remember when you first came to the forum?

I got Senior Membership in November 2004, was made an AM in July 2005, and a Mod in November 2005.

I found the Org. while surfing for mods for the M:TW demo. I loaded up the Agincourt mod and that was it, I bought the game and joined the Org. Been hooked ever since.

Next, what has been your best experience here overall?

It’s a cliché, but the best experience here has been the people, their views, their ideas, their imagination. Without the members the Org. is nothing, just a collection of files. It’s great to converse with people from all over the world, and having a common point of reference, even a video game, allows the ice to be broken and for free thoughts to flow. I think it’s amazing that someone in Canada can bounce a thought off a guy in Australia, then have people in Turkey and Norway join in the conversation, adding pictures and video and sound along with their opinions, all in real time. When I was growing up this sort of thing was science fiction.

What has been your most memorable (doesn't have to be your best) memory of moderating the Kingdom of Peace and love? (Feel free to leave out all details of a certain 'Anti-Jamster' episode )

The destruction of the Anti-Jamster Crusade was a high point. No doubt. Thanks for reminding me.

My best experience was getting into the Frontroom groove and learning from BKS’s example. He set the tone and gave ther Frontroom its flavour. I'm just glad to be part of it.

It sounds petty, but ruthlessly enforcing the no swearing policy was a good thing as well. I think it’s important there are web sites with codes of polite conduct. That’s why the first thing I did once I was a staff member was to really push the zero tolerance policy on swearing. Some think it makes for less posts, but I’ll take one friendly post over a hundred “Screw you n00b!” posts any day. Not having any of those boneheads in the Frontroom is great. From what I’ve seen, if you keep it clean the really good guys end up staying. Like the guys who are here now.

What do you like best about the org? and why?

By nature I’m a team player. Mostly because I’m not that bright and I need the help, but also because I like the idea of a group effort being made to build something. We share certain goals here in the Org.; having fun, playing games, fooling around with our virtual self-portraits, and having a place to express ourselves in ways we don’t usually have at home. The Org. is like a virtual bar. We drink, we talk, we shoot pool, we fight, we apologize, we make some friends and lose others. There is a dynamic quality to the place and it’s always nice to be surprised by what comes out of it. The Org. Gazette is an excellent example of that.

And finally, who has been your favorite personality in the org family?

Uh-oh, an Oscar’s thank you list moment.

BKS. He’s the Cheshire cat. A smiling force sitting on a tree branch. Voigtkampf, my spiritual guru is another. Next has to be Gawain. The most steel-willed, immovable object in the Org. And of course, my son, The Stranger. Just when I thought the world couldn’t get any weirder, along he comes. I loved turning on the Org. and seeing one of his twisted threads. Always made me smile. I hope he comes back.

Thank you for answering! :2thumbsup:

Next thing I have for you is something very exciting from our newest member of the Gah-zette! Woad Warrior, just an 11 post newbie here, has kindly asked for me to post his current campaign is the Gah-zette. So here it is, watch out, it's a thrilling ride!

Hi, this is for my section on the Org-gahzette, where I write about my campaign in RTW. Just now, I'm doing a Greek Cities campaign, so I've prepared an article on it. Hope you like it:

Woad Warrior's Campaign: The Greek Cities

Hello, and welcome to the first of my articles in the Org-gahzette. I will be writing about my campaigns as various factions in RTW. I've just began a campaign as the Greek Cities, so I hope you enjoy this weeks post on the latest in my campaign. This will hopefully add a bit of a storyline theme to the Gahzette, and I'll try and add some useful tips or hints whenever I can, based on my campaign experiences.

270 BC - The Greek Cities are in a vulnerable position, clinging on to territories left behind after the fall of Alexander the Great's Empire. The Greek people face threats from the Romans, Macedonians, Seleucids, and perhaps even the barbaric Dacians and Thracians. It is up to the leader of the Greeks, Kleomenes, to protect his people and rebuilt the Empire of Alexander the Great.

The Greek Cities have five territories under their control, spread around the eastern Mediterranean. The Great City of Sparta is the Capital, from where the faction leader, Kleomenes, rules his people.

https://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9291/gahzetteissue227oh.th.jpg (https://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue227oh.jpg)

Summer, 270 BC :

The Greeks have a sizeable treasury, and mass construction of infrastructure begins across the Greek States. Greece is declared the most advanced faction, a fitting title for such a developed peoples. However, spies are reporting Macedonian troop movements near Greek borders, and there are threats to the west as well. A spy is caught in Syracuse, but escapes before his allegiance can be revealed.

Summer, 268 BC:

Cleon of Sparta comes of age, and stays in the city of Syracuse. Meanwhile, back in mainland Greece, the town of Thermon, ruled by family member Antigonos of Sparta, is besieged by the Brutii. The Brutii outnumber the Greeks, so help must come from elsewhere if the defenders are to have any chance of surviving.

Winter, 268 BC:

Spies report even more frequent Macedonian troops movements near Greek borders, but at the moment the Brutii Romans are the main threat. Kleomenes, the Greek leader, sails from Sparta to Thermon to free his poeple from the Brutii attackers. The Battle of Aetolia takes place:

https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/2864/gahzetteissue237se.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue237se.jpg)

The Brutii Deploy their forces:

https://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9752/gahzetteissue248ns.th.jpg (https://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue248ns.jpg)

The Greek reinforcements, led by Antigonos, arrive:

https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/6986/gahzetteissue259cb.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue259cb.jpg)

The Greek Cretan mercenaries are caught off-guard by the Roman cavalry:

https://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5250/gahzetteissue267oy.th.jpg (https://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue267oy.jpg)

Meanwhile, the main battle commences. The Greek cavalry are quick to take advantage of their mobility, and attack the Roman infantry from the rear, causing heavy casualties:

https://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1889/gahzetteissue275xe.th.jpg (https://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue275xe.jpg)

However, the Roman cavalry that had pursued the Cretan mercenaries off the map were left unnacounted for, and came back to launch a devastating attack on a Greek phalanx from the rear:

Elsewhere, the Greek phalanxes succesfully hold off the Roman assault:

[IMG]https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/4087/gahzetteissue295by.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue295by.jpg)

The two opposing Generals meet in combat, and as his forces begin to rout, the Roman General, Amulius Brutus, is slain:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5380/gahzetteissue2101ar.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2101ar.jpg)

Seeing their fallen leader, the Roman army scatters, leaving the Greeks to chase them down:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1738/gahzetteissue2115uy.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2115uy.jpg)

At the end of the day, both sides have taken heavy casualties, but the Brutii pay the heaviest price:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1121/gahzetteissue2126cj.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2126cj.jpg)

The Greeks can celebrate a well earned victory!

https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/2158/gahzetteissue2138ph.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2138ph.jpg)

Despite the Greek victory, Antigonos was slain, leaving Thermon without a governor. However, Amulius Brutus payed for his war-mongering with his justified death!

Summer, 267 BC:

Rapid Macendonian troop movements reported near Sparta. Meanwhile, a spy finds a Macedonian army in ambushing position practicaly outside the walls of Sparta itself, just as King Kleomenes was returning from his victory in Aetolia. He could easily have been killed, had it not been for the spy.

https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/5880/gahzetteissue2147tt.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2147tt.jpg)

Winter, 267 BC:

Small Julii and Brutii armies land in Aetolia not far from Thermon. Meanwhile, the Macedonians besiege Athens and capture it from the rebels.

Winter, 266 BC:

Greek army led by Cleon of Sparta marches from Syracuse to besiege the Scipii Romans in Messana. Scipii army meets Greek army before they reach the city. The Battle of Sicilia Romanus takes place:

https://img105.imageshack.us/img105/6264/gahzetteissue2156yf.th.jpg (https://img105.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2156yf.jpg)

The Scipii army, led by Quintus Scipio, deploys:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1951/gahzetteissue2166jf.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2166jf.jpg)

The Scipii reinforcements, consisting mostly of cavalry, and led by Cornelius Scipio, arrive:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8849/gahzetteissue2178bb.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2178bb.jpg)

The main Roman army hurls itself at the Greek line, but the phalanxes are proving impassable:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2536/gahzetteissue2180td.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2180td.jpg)

The Greek line is broken when the Roman reinforcements, led by Cornelius Scipio, charge into the back of the phalanxes, which are too slow to turn and react. The Greek General, Cleon of Sparta, desperately charges into the Romans, but it is too late, and he is slain by the Roman cavalry:

https://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7011/gahzetteissue2193bt.th.jpg (https://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gahzetteissue2193bt.jpg)

The Greeks taste the bitter taste of defeat, and the survivors flee to Syracuse.

Meanwhile, Kleomenes, the Great Greek Leader, dies of natural causes at his home in Sparta. Dionysios becomes the new leader of the Greeks. Also, Doros of Sparta comes of age and prepares to serve as a General. He replaces Kleomensos as governor in Sparta.
----------------------------------------------
I know its a bit of a bad note to end on, with the defeat to the Scipii and the King dying in the same year. Nevertheless, look out for next weeks edition, where the Greeks are likely to end up at war with Macedon, and have many more conflict with the Romans. Hope you enjoyed my article!

I certainly did, and I'm sure our readers did aswell, Good job and welcome to the forum Woad Warrior!
Finally (I told you itl was going to be short), Here's Alexanderofmacedon's Tavern Review, always a highlight! :2thumbsup:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Greetings from the Tavern. He’s a brief review of some of the threads in both the Frontroom and Backroom.

Frontroom

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=63368
This is the “Orgah’s Theme song” thread started by Strike For The South. In it you can chose a member you know and pick a theme song to go with it. It’s fun to see what some of the members think of you.

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=61934
Our very own Fragony started this thread. Basically to enlighten the atmosphere in the tavern, he made a thread encouraging the telling of some jokes. Unfortunately his wasn’t frontroom material, but many other of the jokes are very funny. Have a look!

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=57509
Now, we have the “Official Arcade Thread” started by Kanamori. In this many boast their skills from the arcade. Personally I don’t play in the arcade too much, but I’ve heard quite a many great things about it!

Backroom

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=63156
First off in the backroom we have a thread started by solypsist. Here, many an Orgah can come to tell of the troubles they’ve had in the past day, week, or months. Luckily I haven’t had to post!

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=63266
Once again our solypsist has created a great thread in the backroom. This is kind of a silly thread, but I like it anyway. It’s basically a thread to show what weapons you have in case of a zombie attack. If you get a chance, look at the posts by master of puppets and LegioXXXUpliaVictrix. They seem to have things covered in case of zombies, so I’m staying with them!

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=63385
Finally, we have a thread started by Kraxis. He wants to know whether members from the .Org have used the phrase “gah” outside of the forums. Many members use it when they type, but does anyone really say it? Of course they do! In fact, I do! At this point the polls show overwhelming evidence that “gah” is not just a forum word.

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=62938
Tavern Personality of the week:
This week goes to currywurry. Unfortunately his thread got locked, but you can still see what he has to say. He had some personal troubles so he left the .Org for a while. When he finally comes back he’s still having problems. Good luck currywurry and may you find happiness.

Very nice mini-issue! Send me a date/deadline Ian so I can get you up-to-date information about the arcade. Btw, That campaign thing is cool, I personally have done that with a few of my campaigns as well, but not in words, it's in some sort of code that I seem to have made up... and I don't remember how to decode it... I'll find out eventually though!

Gentlemen, I don't speak for the administrators, but while I don't doubt that the Gazette will have its own forum in the fullness of time, I think the forum staff first wants to see wether it will last. Too often these kind of initiatives don't get beyond the first couple of issues.
