i know you can replay your battles but not in [campaign mode.??]. i know in regards to watching a battle you have just fought. i was wondering can you copy this to cd and then run it as a demo or series of demos.

i ask this in regards to my son who is doing a project at school regarding the romans etc[julius caesar] i thought by doing a battle or series of battles saving them then copying them to cd and using it to compliment my sons work in regards say a short chapter on rome at war.with screenshots of the campaign map terrortry captured etc.

1, can it be done.??

2, do i need to install RTW on his school computer. or can i run it like a demo straight from the cd.

3,do i need any tools programmes etc and is it difficult to do.

Uuh, I think someone mentioned a program which captures your screen. I suppose it's possible to save that file as a .mpg or .wmv , but I don't know enough about it. Maybe someone else here will be able to help.

Sorry, I didn't really help you here:oops: :laugh4: , so basically all I did here was boost my post count. My bad.

First of all, it´s correct, you can´t save replays of campaign battles, only of custom battles.
If you want to play the battle replay as it´s saved by RTW, then, of course you need RTW installed, because you als get the whole thing like camera control in the replays (you can watcht the battle from any angle you want, not what you saw while playing it), that, as you can guess, require the RTW software to work.

Now, the alternative would be to do the battle in RTW, save the replay and then use a screencaption/movierecording program to make it into a video file. Those however are sort of WYSIWYG programs, means they record what´s shown on the screen, so making a decent movie requires some editing.

I know you can make movies and take screen shots using FRAPS, I think the movies play back using Windows Media Player but I can't check as I'm at work. I'm on lunch .....honest.

Not being able to save campaign battles but custom ones is odd. Is there a particular reason for that? Seems like a straightforward bugfix. Why hasn't CA done that.

Good question, next one.
Honestly, it beats me. It is possible to save campaign battle replays in MTW, probably in STW, too, but why not in RTW, I have no clue. Especially if you consider that you´ll most likely get the most interesting (and therefore worth recording in the first place) battles in a campaign game.

Hi

I also was dissappointed we couldnt replay campaign battles. Think how neat it would be to have a replay for all the 'Famous battle' markers.

Ive been playing a Carthage game and took several screenshots. Imageshack has a 'slideshow' feature.

4 slides of a simple easy assault..where I lured the Spanish general out of the plaza and into a prepared position.

Many screenshots saved on my harddrive is how I 'replay' my battles/campaign.

Nice slide show : )

Here are two threads that might help with making a movie>

Post #34 helped me a lot in this thread by Eyeswater.

Unfortunately for me I had about 10 gb of movie files! and just recently sorted them out a bit. Fraps makes BIG files, but you can play them in windows media prog mpg format. There's links/tips on finding compression/editing programs etc in the thread.

You need good mouse movement and using arrow keys help for moving around and making smooth panoramic shots.

And, yeah, CAN NOT BELIEVE ..ahem.. that CA didn't have a campaign battle replay save option...

Hope this helps, and bet you found it already : P
