Q: units availability and starting period?

Just a Q, since I can't find the answer in the manual...

If I begin a campaign in the early period, will late/high units like Billmen and Longbows, etc become available when it gets to a certain year, or do I need to begin a late/high period campaign?

I'm not 100% sure whether the beginning period just determines the beginning year, or whether it limits whats available throughout the entire campaign...

In an Early game, when the start year for Late/High comes around the units for those eras become available. You just need to wait.

Also, some units are Early only. Once you pass the year for the next period, you lose the ability to recruit or retrain these units.
