Australian cheerleaders have been banned from baring midriffs by officials of the sport who fear displays of skin may encourage eating disorders.
It would be funny except its ture.

What's wrong with eating disorders? People have the right to be thin.
Eating disorders are bad, very bad for Australians.

Very bad eating disorders.

The notion of forcing attractive people to cover up in case they make others feel bad is decidedly wrong headed. What's next-forcing school overachievers to tone it down a bit in case slower kids get depressed?
BP also makes a good point. If anything, the cheerleaders promote a healthy body image. They probably aren't eating-disorder thin since that would not be at all hot.

In my experience, people who get anorexia* - since that's obviously what the previous posters mean - are usually not people who were fat to begin with.
Keeping in shape by excersise makes for good looking bodies. Starving yourself does not.
*Anorexia is the disorder where you don't, or rarely eat. Boulemia is the one where you eat lots, but purposely vomit it out.

Society is not there to judge what is too skinny or what is puts pressure on people. People's souls should thrive on seeing negative images. If you don't know what is negative, then you don't like the positive.

This is really the type of issue that I think a democracy should have to vote on. Some lawmaker probably snuck this thru and the vast majority of the people are ok with the bare midriffs. I know I am.
Plus the financial repercussions are going to be disastrous! Think of all the extra material it will take to cover up those perfect size 6 midriffs, mmmmm midriffs mmmmm

I’m sorry, my mind started to wander about eating Australian cheerleaders, what was the topic again? Oh, Australian cheerleaders eating.

I think well-shaped cheerleaders should be banned from participating if they show less than the Australian cheerleaders above. It might cause sexual identity problems if the boys don't get to see how naked women look before prom night.

if we are following that then all cheerleaders should only ware pom poms
:2thumbsup:
The title had me scared there for a second.
But just to be on the safeside I'll skin em before BBQ'ing them, but at least I don't have an eating disorder

That's just plain stupid. Surely the next step is just ban good looking grls off the streets. I mean who wouldn't feel bad about themselves seeing a tight pair of jeans on an nice pair of legs?
Besides, maybe if fat people (oopsie, sorry fat people, I meant people with eating disorders) saw what a fit, and adequatly fed body looks like, maybe they would thrive to be healthier. Now what is going to happen is that they won't even have to be ashamed of their own inability to take care of themselves.

...fat people...
I think the correct term is 'gravitationally disadvantaged people' ~;)
Bring in burkhas. It's the obvious next step.
Then start stoning to death any women who dare show flesh, as it will make other women feel bad.
It's the only way to protect women's rights.

Exactly, don't know why all those euphemisms. Same with black people, if they are black, why not call them black? I've been called 'whitey' in Africa, and I have no problem with that because guess what, I am whiter than they are so it only seems logical they point out my most obvious quality to distinguish me from other people. IMO of course.

Wouldn't they be "gravitationally advantaged" then? Disadvantaged would be those who are "too light" and are not using up as much gravity as they should... :dizzy2: :laugh4:
Or maybe I should stop posting and programming at the same time as it appears to do something to my brain functions.

Whadya mean "next?" Over-achievers in this country have been ridiculed for years. Most school systems try to "mainstream" as many students as possible. Gifted students are seldom encouraged/forced to work up to their potential (except by parents, though less than they should be there too). Whole school systems have modified grading systems so that you can't "flunk" a class. You can get an unsatisfactory mark, but...
Hell, Stanford University (for a while at least) wasn't issuing anything below a grade of "C" -- just dropping it off the student record without awarding credits.

What's wrong with eating disorders? People have the right to be thin.
People have also a right to be depressed, but mood disorders are still bad. Anorexia is a serious disease that kills thousands of young people every year. It is also clear that there are ideas in our society about diets and body shape that may be harmful. I am concerned that this problem doesn't get the attention it deserves.
That said, disallowing women to wear what they want because of it is very silly and probably counter-productive. This is sad indeed

Just heard about a sexual satisfaction survey yesterday. At the bottom of the list was the Japanese at 25% and Aussies were nearly 75%. I think it had something to do with going "down under" (but no seriously, the study is real).

They should only allow 100kg and above cheerleaders with facial hair.
Also they shouldnt sign any good sports players in proffesional sports. It really makes me feel bad... Also basketball players should all be below 5' , seeing someone dunk makes me feel really short... I ll sue.
Just use a little whip cream when you decide to eat the Australian. :2thumbsup:
You should be careful when choosing the Australian though. When choosing the delicacy you should stay away from the ones with strange red bumps on them. Besides that, why havent we imported more of these Australian delicacies to the US?

What I find personally aggravating is that this decision was certainly made without any scientific basis, just out of an opinion. Psychology, as a discipline of science is 140 years old and still many haven't noticed it's existence. And not just anyone, no, important people with important functions in community come up with ideas that simply defy scientific knowledge about exactly the issue they have been thinking about. And people don't even criticize them for it! They are upset because the other one's opinion is different from their own opinion. It is unheard off that anyone responds to such a decision by asking "is that scientifically sound or is it the equivalent of a flat earth?", even though many millions of their tax money has been invested to investigate just that.
