I'm stuck. I thought I'd done what I needed to in order to get this running, but no. The loading screen pops up for a second then I get this message
Script error DATA/DESCR_EVENT_IMAGES.TXT at line 623 Col 1 Unknown
event string faction_defeated_by_player
Where have I went wrong??:wall:

No mod member has these messages - and similar CTD's on initial startup have always been able to be resolved by reinstalling, or making sure the right build (must absolutely have 1.2, and not BI or 1.5 or RTW Gold), or making sure no other mods are installed. I might also recommend making sure that map.rwm (in the imperial campaign folder) has been deleted, but I don't think that it would have caused an initial startup ctd - that is more for CTDs when you choose imperial campaigns.

I belive that would be my main problem. I have been able to download the 1.2 .exe file, but when I select that file I get this message:
"This application has failed to start because MSSS32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
And I have reenstalled RTW and tried again several times but I kept getting this. I have Barbarian Invasion on my computer. Is that what is makeing me unable to install the correct patch? Should I unistall that, too?
Yes, that's probably it. I replied to your other thread. Follow my directions exactly (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1120445&postcount=2).

If you have BI, you won't be able to play it (though I have heard people say they have been able to play 1.2 mods with RTW Gold, by some elaborate process I think though ). If you still want to try, you can always uninstall BI though and start from scratch in the install process that Kull linked to.
