Ok, this Qns is for "experts" only.
When we are playing factions with spearmen that can form a phalax. The current formation from one phalax unit to the next has a gap. How do you reduce the gap or make it no gap ?

You can't rely on the placement of the phalanx. Select your unit and put it closer.

There's a way to mod the game, so that phalanxes are deployed without gaps automatically. Saves a lot of time, I don't know how to do it though.

Ok, after some testing ONLINE, I have successfully edited it myself. I can now put phalaxes close together without any gaps with ease.

It's weird that you can't do it normally, because in BI you just select shield wall units, click special ability button then right click and drag and yuo've got yourself one long shield wall. Weird that you can't do it for phalanxes.

You could always select all the phalanx units and press 'f' '=' 'f' to lengthen the phalanx and get rid of any gaps.

I suppose that´s because BI is the expansion and someone felt it useful to include a feature that would close the gaps between units with the shield wall ability.

Shield wall is historically incorrect for phalanx formations. There is a tactical advantage to have gaps between units, which the game doesn't fully make appreciate.

Play the way you like, if you like shield wall, so be it :)

Well for me, vs the AI, I dont even bother.
The reason why I wanna close the gap bcoz during multiplayer battles, it can become very important. Well, maybe its just me ... down to the minute details.

SP,for the AI,I don't care,as long as I have Phlanx Pikemen and Silver Shiled Pikemne (I am playign as Seleciud Empire on RTW) then I don't care..
