greetings from southeast asia, to all brothers in arms! does abody think it wise to try to invade egypt early in the game? i noticed they're usually the strongest faction. i was thinking maybe i could cripple them before they can really get ahead.

Egypt is really very strong. What faction are you playing as? It might change the attacking strategy.

since its only my first campaign in rtw (been playing mtw for the last 3 years), i decided to start with the julii. i've begun building up my navy for the planned invasion. once i get at least two half-stack navies, i'm gonna attack those scattered ships in the med to get. i have no idea what kind of units i'll be facing once i get to egypt so i'm basically building my ground invasion force "blind". :wall: maybe you guys could point me in the right direction?

A little tip for the Julii: it's completely unnecessary to invade Egypt. They're hard to control because the pesky Egyptians always are, and their distance from your capital makes it even harder to control them. Also, Egypt is usually the most powerful faction (Romans aside), so invading them is a bad idea. Your troops would be eaten up by their multiple full stacks which pop up from time to time, all while the other families grow more powerful. Another problem is the Gauls, and the Senate missions.

thanks a lot tiberius. now that i think about it, it really would be unnecessary to invade egypt since you just need a certain number of provinces to win the game. and you can have that without attacking a single egyptian province. :2thumbsup:

on the other hand, my real reason for thinking about invading the land of the pharoahs was the challenge of going up against the game's strongest faction. the gauls were nothing but shirtless sissies.

the egyptians will probably crush my upstart legions, but at least i'll get to play with the big boys. :laugh4:
