View Full Version : Hirsi Ali's Neighbors: Get out!
Full story at peaktalk (http://www.peaktalk.com/archives/002165.php); here's an excerpt:
HIRSI ALI, THE HUNTED
Just to show how far Dutch tolerance goes: Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s neighbors have sued the Dutch state in order to get her to be removed from the apartment complex in which she is living under police protection. The request was initially rejected, but following an appeal a higher court has now ordered Hirsi Ali to leave her house within four months, I translate:
The court considers in its ruling that the neighbors have been put into a situation that has contributed to them feeling less safe in their own house. That feeling is extended to the communal living spaces of the apartment complex, but also to their own apartments. The court argues that this is a severe violation of one’s private life (as per Article 8 of the European Treaty for Human Rights).
A few things. Firstly, it should be noted that Hirsi Ali is now booted out of her own house by virtue of the European Treaty for Human Rights which does indeed supersede Dutch law. Many cases are adjudicated by referring to this treaty, but given the subject matter here I would say: Euroskeptics, go knock yourselves out.
The translated paragraph is from this article (http://www.nu.nl/news/721695/11/Hirsi_Ali_moet_beveiligde_woning_verlaten.html).
I'd be particularly interested to hear from some of our Dutch members who may have a better perspective on this.

So, she was thrown out because of the 'European Court of Human Rights' determined her neighbor's 'right' to live unafraid of one type of danger was greater than her right to live?
Huh.

No, it was a regular court interpretating a European law.
(from what i can make up from the quoted part)
All courts make stupid decisions from time to time, don't judge the entire legal system on a single verdict. All systems would fail then.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali needs to live somewhere. She is a target for nutcases who thinks they can threaten her life because of her views and opinions. Putting her in an appartment or house in a normal neighbourhood is like putting a bomb there. It may not go off but there is a chance.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali might need to live again on an airbase, since the government apparently has troubles finding a safe house for her without gettting complaints from the neighbours.

I don’t feel safe with Beirut’s big axe hanging over my head, maybe we should move him to Europe. :laugh4:

From the article HIRSI ALI, THE HUNTED

Doesn't this case stem from the fact that she went public about her safe location .
Now while that might be admirable and shows that she has balls confronting the nutters , it does mean that people who also live in the building now become targets as the building is now a known target .
So not only is their case completely warrented it does bring her judgement into question .
On top of which , I suppose the police that are guarding her would not have been too happy when she decided to say "yoo hoo , I am hiding over here , come and get me"

I do agree that her neigbors are in danger, and that the government would need to do more to protect them, but the thing that troubles me most is that European Union 'law' supports kicking people out of their homes if their neighbors feel threatened.

I believe it had something to do with the price of their house, nobody would want to live above a politician that is marked for boom. Seems reasonable to me, they didn't ask for that modified walking trauma to move in there.

So the fat bloke was a champion of free speech and a real Dutch hero for telling it like he did , and this woman is a modified walking trauma .
Any particular reason behind that Frag ?

Yes, I wanted to hear your voice. Some people don't enjoy being stalked, but me, it makes me feel special; nearly slipping of my chair with excitement.
thank you.

But Tribesman has a point Fragony. Which is it:
Female circumcision is a crime, a backwards cultural phenomenon, and we need to speak up against it.
It is something for which the victims need to be ridiculed, especially those that raise their voice.
I've heard you argue both here.

Tribesman has no point, he has an opinion, about, well me. That is ok of course but I won't be provoked to dash into an argument because he has my adress :laugh4: . I would like to see some quotes with that 'argue both' thingie by the way, what do I care if they like to slice of parts of their privates, nothing as long as I can make fun of it. She isn't guarded because of that mind you, she is guarded because she called the prophet (pbwm) a pedophile and a tyrant.

they like to slice of parts of their privatesThey did indeed. They did it to a helpless girl. Of what, nine or eleven years old? Now that she's an independent adult women she speaks up. Which makes her in your book nothing but a 'modified walking trauma', not to be taken seriously precisely because she was mutilated.
The hypocrisy Í pointed out, is that you, just like her, have an issue with the backwardness of mutilating young girls. And rather than acknowledging her for that, you make her the object of your ridicule.
What, a Somali woman can't speak out herself, it is the sole prerogative of western men to be against female circumcision?

First of all, her clit sitting in a jar is hardly being discussed, as I told before she is guarded because of her comments on the prophet (pbwm). Secondly, I don't care what they do in Somalia, as long as they don't do it here. Thirdly, I don't care about Somalia, at all. There are a whole lot more important domestic issues, politicians having to be guarded is one of them, even if they are from Somalia.

So there are no winners here. The neighborhood is unmasked as a group whose shallow self interest is paramount, the State may have made a few mistakes and will have to spend yet more on security and Ayaan, well, she remains the hunted one. It seems that those responsible for threatening her will have the last laugh
The article itself said all there was to say...
