Wow, that's an extremely old character. Looks quite young for his age, eh?

The oldest general I can ever remember having was about 95 years old. It was annoying because he was an excellent commander, but for the last 15 years of his life he did nothing because I kept expecting him to die the next year...

Even coloured eyebrows...

CA has way to go regarding realism. :juggle2:

There should be another change of the face icon, not just one when a family member turns 50.
*cough*MTW2*cough*

I think my eldest was only 87.

I think people have said before that when the general gets to a certain age, the age goes back to zero, or something very low and then goes up again. I'm certain 111 has been topped, although it's a great achievement. My oldest general lasted to about 85, but he was a dirty perv and his loss and achievements were of no great importance to me.

My oldest general was good old Flavius Julius. He was 88 and still conquering when I completed the short campaign. It would have been interesting to see how long he would've lived. Oh well...

And I second Drusus Magnus' suggestion. Perhaps around 75?

i was surprised when i saw age of this general. first he reached top of 90(that was also surprising to me)and than i just put him to manage Damaskus. and i forgot about him. but today i looked and i didnt believe it.
i didnt play since than, and he is still alive, but now i just wonder for how long?

I've had a family remember top 101, but he died the next turn. I'm glad I checked.

There's a way to edit it and make your character in the hundreds, even thousands, but they'll die the next turn.

I wish I had a screenshot program...

@zain

you dont need special screenshot program. just hit printscreen on keyboard, alt+tab, open paint(or similar grapfic program with option "new picture"), press ctrl+v or(paste), and you have your screenshot. also there is tgas folder where you instaled rtw, that should have screenshots u take everytime you press printscreen during game, but it saves pictures in .tga format, and for some reason after i instaled BI, it wont work.

and update...

still alive.

Wow, thank you.

And how do you make it a picture that you can post onto the Org?

You're a lot of help!

-ZainDustin

(I just did it with this post, before I added the parenthesis)

dkdnt

to present picture on the org, u must use tags.

first u need site to host your picture, or you can attach it to your post(i`m not sure about this, cuz i dont see option for attachments right now, but its almost dawn here, so i cant see many things :D ).
if you choose first option, just copy image url between [img] Your_image_adress_goes_here

and that should work. or you can read faq, or something like this.

glad i could help. :idea2:

dkdnt
05-01-2006, 03:27
as i said, not a problem. if i can help, i will.

now, someone mentioned something about oldest general? how old he was?
just curious/

this one was great as a general. Though he is not so good as a manager, since he has only traits u can see, and they are more then bad(he actualy has same number of traits and retinues), but with lot of seleukid trade money, bad traits just coming. :)

@zain

now i dont have idea. maybe there is size limits on hosting site, i dont know.

if u have something interesting from rtw, try to crop it, and upload just important parts of the picture, like i did.

and my english is just geting worst and worst.

Imageshack should be able to do full page uploads. It's hard to find again if you lose the link though, so I stick with photobucket.

is the max something like 128?

Zain
05-01-2006, 13:07
The limit in size is 1 mb.

I`m sory, i dont understand this. yes, i`m saving and reloading, becouse that is way everybody play rtw, i doubt anyone finished it without saving and reloading. if however u think i`m saving and reloading just to get older general u r wrong. that`s just stupid.

dkdnt
05-01-2006, 13:13
i didnt think on image size, but on the image dimensions, sorry for that. but 166x122 is just small, i dont think that is the problem, since i believe i hosted bigger pictures.

Dutch_guy
05-01-2006, 14:01
Why's it so small?

With imageshack you should be able to resize your image, the option is located under the path where you upload your pictures.

640 x 480 is the size they say is best for message boards.

108 in BI.

He had no stars but had the architect and some other financial traits. I rotated him between Athens and Thessalonica. He was probably the last pagan general my ERE had.

I hope I have a screenshot.

With all the penalties that come with this guy.. he's better off dead. After he transfers the ancillaries, of course

I just looked, and the oldest current family member is 71. Boring, I know, but he should keep aging... unless he's immortal. LOL.

123 and not one star?

he must have led a sheltered life!!

dkdnt
05-08-2006, 13:39
well he is so old that i forget did he even participate any battle before he was put to governor palmyra. anyway i`m thinking to set him as faction heir, just to see what will happens when he become leader who is older than many cities. :D

what's anti-aliasing?

-ZainDustin

Quillan
05-09-2006, 21:45
It seems to be really rare for any to live past 100, though it happens every now and then. I think the game makes a random check every season once they pass a certain age, to see if they die. I know because I had to reload a save once after a crash and the guy who died, didn't.

Anyway, I had to dredge this one out of an old post from about a year back. I had this guy live to be 101, almost 102, before he keeled over.

I think as characters age the probability of them dying at the end of a turn progressively increases but if you reload, it seems to reset this probability.

From my experience:
With no or minimal reloads a character will not live past 90 and very rare to reach 80 whereas with regular reloading he may live well past 100. The more you reload the more likely he will live longer so avoid playing 1-2 turn sessions.

Also, if a character did die on a turn you could reload a previous save and he not die.

Zain
05-10-2006, 13:06
I think it goes pretty much the way Nebuchadnezzar said. Good analysis!

-ZainDustin

Avicenna
05-10-2006, 16:09
How is he still 'the killer'? When my Julianus became faction leader it didn't take too long to become 'the cunning' after 'the killer'.

Nebuchadnezzar should be correct. I did load quite a bit before though, yet my generals rarely lived to eighty, apart from the original Scipio faction leader in one of my campaigns.

Garvanko
05-10-2006, 17:22
Nebuchadnezzar is right. It is an easy exploit though. Your best general dies just when you need him most - luckily you saved the game the turn before, so you just reload, and he carries on for a few more years.

Viking

-ZainDustin

Makes thing less sharp; give them a smoother appearance.

Zain
05-10-2006, 22:59
oh, i thought it was something like an alias "the cunning". So I thought that just got rid of that.

I actually manually went in a while back and removed all of those names so I knew if a family member was a native Julius or not. I don't remember how I did that though...

Regular people hardly ever live that long, so back then would have been nearly impossible. So, congrats! :2thumbsup:

Almost impossible without save/reload if you play any mod with four turns/year.

Lorenzo_H
05-15-2006, 14:27
so many ancillaries! once my generals hit 60 I transfer all of them so they aren't wasted!

Viking
05-15-2006, 17:36
Yeah that`s a clever trick. Usually do it in my campaigns.

Avicenna
05-15-2006, 21:52
Be careful not to just keep any old ancillaries though. If you're opting to allow ancillary transfer, you should transfer the correct ones to your generals, others to your governors, and the last ones, who are worthless, give to a certain general that you're sending to his doom (ancillaries such as pet idiot or inflated sheep).

unfortunately, i instaled rtr recently and deleted all saved games with vanila rtw, so 123 is curently my top age.
