Wanted to learn more about the game - a forum seemed the best bet, and this is the best forum.

I am a player who like challenges and tried many different approaches with many factions. I started my first campaign on VH/VH and had not tried anything less than that difficulty since.
At first I was just browsing the forums for quite some time. Then, as I read more posts about how single player campaigns are "difficult" and some players giving wrong advice to other players on how to play a particular faction. That had my blood was boiling and that made me register and immediately post the most "efficient" way to play a particular faction. The few factions that I consider worth posting were NUMIDIA and PARTHIA. You can see most of my postings there.

Dutch_guy
05-01-2006, 14:58
Well I had bought the game Rome and wanted to read various opinions on how other people played certain factions.

And so while looking for a guide of some sort I arrived here and found all that I was looking for.

First thing I ever read here was froggy's guide, after that I signed up and started posting in the guides section, after that moved on to the colosseum and then moved on to the tavern where I post up to this day.

Typed RTW guides in a google search. I found Quietus' Guide to RTW, and from there found the Org. I read Frogbeastegg's Guide to RTW and was hooked immediately. I enjoy talking with the great folks I've met at this forum.

Found Quietus' Guide on google, and I then noticed that not every comment underneath it was misspelt. Rare for an internet forum, so I joined.

I joined to ask a question about the LMM for MTW modding. It was my first post on an internet forum, let alone a modding guides one, and when I didn't get a reply in one day I decided to sulk, checking back every so often to see if someone had replied. Then a few days later someone else asked a question in the same thread, I replied saying not to bother, ask at the .com instead they actually respond. That certainly brought the down the Thunder of the gods:

Sorry I know how frustrating it can be to have no answers so I'm going to say:

I don't know

(try posting at the .com forums they answer more often there) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

Really? did you find topics like this over there? oh I guess not thats why your here, I dont like statements as immature as this , this community of modders is the best around bar none again another judgemnt form a patron with 8 posts, spend more time and get to know people here and you will find them to be most helpful indeed, dont prejudge ~ ...LOS

Yes I really was an ignorant brat

Since then I learned to appreciate that the Modding community here was (and still is ) the most skilled and helpful out there, and I've been hanging around ever since.

I came here following a link from the http://p223.ezboard.com/bshoguntotalwar site

I like the many pictures. Perhaps a bit more play oriented than the other three forums I am active on.

What I really like is that good research has its permenant place. It doesnt scroll away to be lost forever like it does on other forums.

Quick question when people talk about “the .com” do they mean totalwar.com

Yes. "the com" as against "the org"

Also, much as I'd like to be able to be directed to websites with prophetic dreams, I'm afraid my actual explanation is a bit more mundane. I found the link at the com. *cough*

Well you all have a point.
But the guild is so much more my friends.

It’s a place were people from all over the world give their views on matters at hand or past.
When you have the patience and right interests you will find a whole other world laying at your feet’s.
And when you feel you have explored the game forum well enough, I’ll be delighted to invite you both to the tavern.
Watch out for the backroom though.
You must always be prepared before entering that place.

This is what happened to me anyway.
I came here because I had a problem with Rtw.

I've been lurking here since 2003. I joined up in 2004 but have hardly posted anything. Got into a spot of bother with the mods due to a few of my, not so subtle, posts in the backroom and elsewhere then disappeared for a while. I've been at .commie ever since but I'm finding the deluge of spam, the M2TW mania, the ridiculous word filtering, and the constant closing of topics for no apparent reason, a little wearing now.
