http://www.totalwar.com/community/alex2.htm

theres a lot of new stuff, maybe some new ideas which can be implanted for future updates of eb, the game will be released at June 2006.

Those movies are pretty uninspiring...with the old RTW units just skinned in new colors. It does have "Indian naked female archers" though, I'm sure that will sell some copies.

yes,
i visited the forum of twc, there was a lot of talking going on about these
'naked female archers' , hahaha,
i searched but couldnt find a pic of them somewhere on the net :dizzy2:

Indian naked female archer, persian with crappy green uniforms....but at least this time there will be real Indian elephants.....

The most important things they left out so far:
-will it come with a new exe as BI?
-will there be any improvements to the game engine, increased hardcoded limits?
-will there be a new patch for R:TW/BI as a fter BI release?
-how much will it cost?

Kampfduck
05-05-2006, 21:37
because it will be a download version only (no boxed version),
the price should be very low ive heard,
on the twc forum there was a talk of 9 uk pounds.

I'm mildly concerned about EB players commenting on it. If fans want to voice opinions, that's one thing, but since EB is primarily about historical accuracy and adding more reality and content to the factions on the map, our opinions obviously go along pretty close with what we are trying to do and are interested in. These are not CA's objectives of course, as is understandable. So given the nature of mods in general (to change things up or "fix" problems or issues - differently than the original makers of the game produced it), it seems likely that we would only be interested in things like improvements to the game engine, hardcoded limits, etc, as cunctator mentioned. Other opinions on new content provided by CA would likely be best left alone. But that's just the personal opinion of one eb member. :juggle2:

Well i never saw this coming...

I won't be buying it, it'll just be more bright colours and historical innacuracies with units routing before they touch your battle line because a javelin killed one of their men... Perhaps if there are some real improvements to the game engine and AI and diplomacy and stuff then i might, but unless there's real modding potential there then no.

Ah.. so we start to see the impact of Bethesda's charging for addons...

Kenny, don't think this is just because of Oblivion. It has been in the works for a long while. Actually, EA has been doing it for quite some time.

It is the natural drift of an industry that has lacked innovation in distribution for a very long time. I for one am all for it, since it will provide very real incentive for companies to continue to support and improve their products well after they are released. By charging for new content, but continuing to update the engine, everyone is happy.

One of possible changes may be possibility to have faction leader with different model than other family generals (if they make Aleksandros, there couldnt be more of them in the field ~;) )

Also makedon cavalry looks good (somebody red Army of Aleksander the Great from Osprey ~:) )

Some of the models actually look fairly good. I think some of the Indian units will be useful; and hell, I'm excited to play as Porus.

Hahahahaha, check the clips!, Phillip sounds like a Scotsman!

On the expansion note, I'd only get it if it adds some considerable gameplay improvements or options or lifts the hardcoded limits, otherwise plfffffft

Yeah you're probably right. And I do suppose that if they make more money off it, they'd be more willing to fix things.

The way he's doing the voiceover makes Philip of Makedon sound like he had a thick Scottish accent, and the idea of Philip of Makedon sounding like a Scotsman is hilarious to me.

My sense of humor is odd:embarassed:

There seems to be a hollywood convention in which Romans and Greeks speak like they're from somewhere in the British isles...

Speaker of second clip sounds just like british, and says this at some point, I suppose:

Your men take heart, from your success against the sacred band, but there are two "JUMBO" units left on the field and they must be destroyed before they can be brought against your army.

Its either my hearing or expansion will have nasty surprise for fans of upcoming expansion :elephant:

The thing about improving the code is, why would CA want to help the modding community get more life out of its existing product when they are gearing to sell their new one. Since they haven't said anything i'm not optimistic over a new patch and if its the same engine its 50/50 whether i'll buy the new expansion.

Proper Gander

i'm pretty sure the engine will not've changed. it's going to add a new campaign, a couple of units, even more reskinned units, and some bits and pieces to polish it off.

i wouldn't expect any teaking, bug fixing or anything in the likes.

it's two MORE units.

somebody said he sounded scottish... i couldn't agree less. especially not a "thick" scottish accent.

he sounds english. (saying british is a teeny weeny bit too vague with all the accents there....)

I don't blame CA for not going hardcore realism like the EB team, but having the entirety of non-Macedonian Greece be prepresented by a single settlement...let's just say that the lenghts at wich CA will not go to do things right keeps amazing me :dizzy2:

Naked feminist female indian archers:dizzy2: shooting EB Gaestate in their b***s.That would be an interesting Ahistorical Battle ( The Battle for Bartix):laugh4: .
Just jokeing. Anyway, I'd rather they'll come up with a patch that increases the model/province/faction hardcoded limits. Just dreaming, need to wake up:wall:

hahaha! Battle for Batrix should really be included there, with the narrator saying. "In 312, as Alexander retreated from India, taking his Indian Naked Girl Archers with him to please him, he heard of a mysterious island South, called Bartix. Gathering what few men he had, he quickly built ships and went over to Bartix, in a final attempt to conquer something else before returning to Babylonia." Hehe, that'd be awesome.
