Poor thing, talk about bad luck.
A disabled five-year-old famous for her courage is critically ill after being hit by another car
Sophie Delezio was lucky to survive the first accident, on Christmas Eve, 2003: she suffered 85 per cent burns and lost her feet, but her recovery inspired Australia (MARC McCORMACK)
IN 2003 the smiles and courage of Sophie Delezio, then aged 2, won the admiration of people across Australia after she was gravely injured by an elderly driver whose car crashed into her childcare centre in Sydney. Yesterday Sophie, now aged 5, was back on life support in a Sydney hospital after being hit by another elderly driver on a pedestrian crossing.

Possibly review how te elderly keep teir lisenses? My grandmother is getting the same way. Ractions way down, strength abysmal and eyesight is bad too. Almost an accident waiting to happen. :no:

She's unlucky to be hit by a car. There was no heroism involved.
It seems there is a growing trend that a severe enough injury automoatically makes the person either a hero or brave.

i don't think its the injury so much as the survival that makes her brave
And she is a hero for surviving those elderly people who shouldn´t have a driver´s license anymore.:no:

All above 60 should only be permitted to drive if they undergo a yearly health check.

She could be said to be lucky to survive. Hardy, even.
To recover from the injuries she could be described as resiliant or a battler.
There is a chance that shen she recovers from te psycological damage she will be brave or stoic. Determined or inspirational.
If she had pushed someone out of the way of the car she would be a heroine - i.e. has knowingly placed herself in danger.
A guy that got stabbed in the guts trying to prevent a robbery could be described as a hero, although he had no idea he was going to be stabbed.
It's a pretty important destinction IMO.

anyway shes not really a hero but her resiliance is to be admired. to a quick recovery and prosperous life:balloon2: :barrel: :balloon2:
the problem is, wehn you get old you wont want to get rid of your liscense, however i agree that oldies are a danger to everyone when driving cars :2thumbsup:

I agree.
I hope she survives, well for her sake to be perfectly honest as it doesn't really impact on my life at all, but I don't see the bravery or courage, just a survival instinct

As a Sydneysider this is not the way I wish to see someone approach the pathos of a situation where first a young girl at age 3 gets pinned under a car and gets burned so badly that she gets limbs amputated and then a couple of years later she gets ran over again.
I fail to see the sense of humour so I applied your own quote hence standard against yourself as the rod to be used.

Pape, I couldn't agree more.
Sophies first accident a car went out of control and ran through the wall of the childcare center she was in,
she was pinned under the exhaust,
she lost both legs, the fingers on one hand and was terrbily burnt down one side of her face (she lost her ear).
a journalist who followed Sophies recovery from the first accident has become her friend and was present at her last birthday party where she was given a tricycle, she has artificial legs and can get around quite well,
when he commented on her riding the tricycle her reply was simply "i dont need legs"
A hero can also be defined as someone who overcomes great personal trauma, difficulties and obstructions in order to lead a full life.
Sophie falls into the category of hero,
she is brave, stoic and an inspirational hero to all disabled people everywhere.
