I dont know if this is the right place for this, so if it is the wrong place just move it.
Were the requirements for a password changed? I am trying to change my E-Mail Address and it needs my password. I used my current password for this iste and it said that is needs to be a least 8 characters long. Mine isnt 8 characters so i wouldnt let me get passed. What should i do?

Make a new password that's longer than eight characters?

Yes, recently - to increase security. Passwords must now be at least 8 digits long, and include at least one each of:

Upper-case letter
lower-case letter
number
character (%^&*, etc)

Sorry for the inconvenience. It's to prevent (or at least slow down) the password crackers from accessing your account.

p.s. Current passwords will continue to work fine. But if you change anything that is password-protected (your email address, for example), your 'new' password will be subject to the new rules.

p.p.s. bettkicker19: thanks for keeping your email address up-to-date. ~

Thanks Kukri for helping me - now maybe I can try again without screwing it up.

LOL

Edit:

Going to have to try changing it at home - for some reason when I attempt it at work, I keep getting the error that caused my problem.

hopefully I can get my email changed...

Password system goes on my nerves.

It's a forum! Not some secret secutiry center.
If I want to use my old password, let me do it.
There is no chance I could remmeber password with has both lower, upper, numbers and other characters.

That's ridiculus.

To add insult to the injury, I'm unabe to chance my email.
It requires to enter my old password, which does not work.
So I need to enter new "secure" password which I would be unable to remmeber.

Moderators, administrators please let me keep my password, when I want to change email.

Or if not possible, please change my email to []<a-thing>gmail.com

Agree. Agree.

Agree.

I remember the happy days when forumaccounts here were not password protected at all. Happy days, until some jerk figured it would be nice to pretend to be you and post insults.

I know the complaints about campguards, CIA security and what not and I agree. But everything is a reaction to solve/prevent nastiness: the passwords, the load of forums, memberlevels, EH system, warningsystem, moderators, creditcard screening, the national security numbers, FBI profilers, the goelags..

It's for your own good, really.

Anyway, I would be overjoyed if someone of moderators/administrators manually change my email, as suggested in my previous post, so I would not need to modify my password (it's ok needed 8 letters, but making having both upper/lower cases, numbers and other simbols is just ridiculus).

There is no chance I could remmeber password with has both lower, upper, numbers and other characters.I often make up phrases to help remember secure passwords. For instance, you could have:

T0$@40rg

which is "Tosa 4 Org", just with symbols and numbers replacing the appropriate characters. And no, this isn't my password!
