View Full Version : Takeover of Enemy's Engines of War?

Hi there,
if I'm not mistaken, in M:TW it is possible to takeover the enemie's war mashines (such as ballistas, onagers etc.). Haven't played M:TW for a long time, though, so maybe I don't remember it correctly.
However, is it possible to takeover siege weapons and stuff of the enemy in R:TW?
After winning a bridge battle and while my cavalry was chasing the fleeing enemies I tried to get my hands on the onagers that were left over by the cowards, but couldn't figure out how to 'tell' my troops to take posession of these onagers.
So, it's not a possibillity, is it?
Keep commanding and conquering :charge:

Don't think it's possible... I'm not sure though.
That`s not possible. Perhaps if onager faces onager, maybe.

No, it's not possible to take over any sort of siege engine in the game. Not even an onager crew can take over any other onagers other than the one it's assigned to.

Yeah, I thought so. Very un-authentic. That sucks.

Well you most certainly can't make your own onager crews take control of the enemies ''abandoned'' onagers. Also I don't think you're able to switch crews in an army of your own.

Yes you can switch in your own army. Simple, if the unit is an onager, click on it then hold alt and click on an enemy unit (So, that unit will abandon the engine and run to engage the enemy unit). Now, stop your unit, and you can re-assign it to any onager around. (Of course, it must be one of yours).

So if you take over the enemy artillery, I asume you get to keep it ?
Although you'd need an extra crew to man it...

After some testing: Onager can take onager, but not scorpion. Not sure if Barbarian onagers can take Roman onagers.

Not after the battle, I think. If you your crew leaves the onagers, you will be able to attack them again.

If that is so.... then I fail to see the point of it all.

I never tested it to gain enemy's Onagers, but I did say you can do it within your own army now didn't I? :P

Perhaps if you have an onager in a sally battle and you take over the enemies onanger with your crew, you can use theirs and not risk hitting your own walls. I'm going to try that trick and report.

Yes but given the enemy always deploys their siege weapons behind their main line it would be practically impossible to do it, I mean you do need to take it over to be able to use it.
Unless I haven't completely misunderstood your post that is :juggle2:

That is true, however when I sally the enemy invariably moves to one side of the city and thats when I hit their artillery with my cavalry. I havn't had a chance to try it yet, since I posted the enemy doesn't want to play with onagers. :wall:
