XtraticWar is a text-based mmorts game that was reccomended to me by a friend of mine (coincidentally part of the dev team :) ). The game runs on a pretty basic concept - you get recruits, which can be turned into either offensive or defensive troops. These troops can be outfitted with offensive/defensive items that serve to give a bonus to the relevant attribute. All of this, of course, costs money, which is gained over time by a third type of unit, the miner, and can also be acquired by defeating your opponents in battle.

Battle isn't a spectacular affair; rather it is decided by comparing your attack score and your opponent's defense score (or vise-versa), which, as i mentioned earlier, can be increased by either getting more troops, upgrading the ones you have and purchasing equipment. Wins get you money and experience, which is used to raise levels. Levels serve to limit who you can face to a three level buffer around you - experienced player can't attack noobs all day, and ignorant noobs can't accidentally get their @sses kicked by strong players.

You can also go on missions, which are determined in the same way of battles (except that, unlike battles, you can see your chances of success beforehand (in a battle, you only see the player who you have chosen to attack's number of troops; you have no idea what items and other bonuses he may have)). Completing a mission will give you bonuses such as extra recruits, turns (used to attack), money and experience.

Despite my early misgivings (i'm a self-confessed graphics whore), the game has actually proven quite addictive; although there is still much work to be done.
