I was just curious - what is your all-time best mile time? I am currently a sophomore in high school and am nearing the end of my Track season. My personal record for the mile came about two weeks ago at 4:49.1 and I am running the mile again at this Friday's sectional meet, where my goal is to go under 4:43.
I know there have to be some runners in here, what is your best time?

what is your all-time best mile time?
30.31 seconds.
Ofcourse that was with my car. (120 mph)

When I use to run it was 5:30. 4:49 is damn impressive though. I think the best on our track and cross country team could do it in around 4:30 something.

Never run miles. Too short :2thumbsup: . My 6-mile time though is on 27 minutes - depending on the day it can be as much as 25 or a little as 35 - .

Don't remember my best mile but my best two mile for the APFT was 13:30. Not bad for a half a pack a day.

You run 6 miles in 27 minutes? Somehow I doubt that. That is average mile time of 4:30 a mile.

I'm 15 and I can do a 5:37 mile. That is however a score I got when I had tendonitis (sp?) in my hip. Next year I'll do a lot better (assuming tendonitis will not be so bad).

3 miles up, 3 miles down. My measuring device was a car though. I.e. I've driven the distance to make sure its 6 miles. I don't know, maybe on foot I cut corners or something, but that is the time. Add half a mile another 5 minutes if you want. Or maybe I'm just very fit. ~
I have run 5:06 for the mile. 53 for the 400m. 18:52 for the 5k.

If that is your real pace, you should be on the olympic team

I don't have the frame to be a speed runner (averaging around 6 min. per mile) but my endurance 5 mi. is around 27 minutes.
I can't say I've ever run faster than 7:05 for a mile. My 2 mile run is usually in the mid to high 1400s. Never been a fast runner though. I can run for fairly long distances and I can march all bloody day though with a pack and full kit.
How long have you guys been training at running? I'd like to improve my times to at least the mid six minutes. Any good techniques besides just running and pushing yourself harder each time?

I'm no sprinter; my mile time is probably around six minutes. It's been so long since I've run just one mile.:juggle2:

Hmm... depends, two miles in 10:00 is pretty common for me, I can probably do 1 mile in 4:45 or less.

that was a lie btw.
it should be 22,5 (Volvo of my boss 150 MPH)
Running a mile proably would take me several hours.

That is VERY sad. You are supposed to be able to walk a mile in twelve minutes. That's a confortable walk. I'm sure you guys could do WAY better than severl hours. I know I'm taking it literal, but I know what you mean.:laugh4:
Yea, if all of you ran the times that you said, you would be track all stars. I am a freshman in high school and i run about a 6:15 mile. That is above average for a 15 year old. So if you guys are all you say you are and the age you say u are then you should be track stars and maybe even some olypians.

I don't do track at my school, but I can get a 5:49 in the mile. At my school, the soccer program as well as the coach is very hard. I play soccer as a freshman in highschool on the varsity line. Because I am a freshman though, I'm in the JV period, because that's where you start as a freshman. I'm 15 and I can still run that time. I'm not even the fastest. A kid who was in the soccer program at my school didn't make any of the teams (varsity or junior varsity), so decided to run track. He said track is easier than soccer, so it doesn't really matter if the purpose of track is running.
Anyway, I'm sure a couple people have put the wrong times here, as this seems near impossible for some of them, but I'll let you know, I'm not lieing.

Actually, I am a distance runner and do both Cross Country and Track. I have been training for about four months now. If I were a track "all-star" I would be running in the low 4:20s. Olympic runners would be below 4:00. As you can see, I'm a far from being close to either of these two times. Twenty seconds is a big hurdle to jump, so to speak.

Of course track is easier than football, in football you are pretty much sprinting around for 90 minutes, in track events you pace yourself.
Most people underestimate what several years of solid training can do for you.

You've gotta take into account that you have take a break for a snack or two and computer breaks and such plus the fact that I will have to sit down and drink some water a couple of times so if you add that all together that adds up to a couple of hours.:juggle2:

Not really. Back in the day when I tried to join the army and trained really hard, the time I was aiming at for 1 km was 3:30. My pb was 3:10. Another minute and a half for the extra 5-600 m seems reasonable enough... The olympics run the km in under 2:30 so I'm still a whole 40 secs off... And I'm doing my absolute best here....

Yeah.... Tried to join the officer academy. Passed the physical tests, passed the language tests, and then got drunk before the maths exam and failed....

I once forgot i had to pick up my brother from school, ran the mile from our house to his school in about 10 minutes, while carrying a heavy backpack.

I was a skinny little kid with strong legs and 0% body fat. Although I was not on a track team, I could naturally run pretty well, since I wasn't carrying any weight. Every time I got a haircut, my weight went down 10%.
Anyway, my best time for the mile (1.6km) was around 5:30.

I did it! Holy crap! I just got home from the Sectional Track meet with a time of 4:39.4. I not only beat my previous best by ten seconds, but I also now hold the sophomore mile record at my high school!:2thumbsup: My new goal is to make state by senior year. State qualifying time for the mile in Illinois is 4:25.

Thanks. Now that Track is over, it's time to give my legs a break and become a couch potato before summer running begins!~
a pathetic 8:45 or thereabouts, just not made to run the mile. Maybe because I hate running. Hill sprints? maybe, long distance? I get bored dammit
